In the blink of an eye everything changes. Seventeen year-old Mia has no memory of the accident; she can only recall what happened afterwards, watching her own damaged body being taken from the wreck. Little by little she struggles to put together the pieces- to figure out what she has lost, what she has left, and the very difficult choice she must make. Heartwrenchingly beautiful, this will change the way you look at life, love, and family. Mia's story will stay with you for a long, long time.

If I Stay Book Review:
This is my first go at mini reviews, but for the sake of not writing to much about this touching/ emotional series here goes nothing. This was my first Gayle Forman read and she has easily moved to my list of top authors of 2013. This book was hauntingly beautiful. She takes the reader on the Journey of a young girl's lost soul while she searches for her next step in this life or the one beyond. This is Mia's story. Think young female Mozart born to hippie/non conservative parents with a little brother that Is LOL funny.
This book was short and sweet. In 200 pages Mrs. Forman made me cry, laugh and never forget Mia's story. After tragedy strikes and claims the life of her immediate family, she Is left with a decision....Does she stay or does she leave this life behind? Her decision is far from easy. Mrs. Forman gives the reader past and present Scenes into Mia's life that made this story flow even better. The secondary characters in this book I loved them all. Especially her boyfriend Adam and best friend kim. As I stated before I cried, laughed, even giggled like a school girl at times. This book was hauntingly beautiful. The ending left me wanting more and with so many freaking questions. Thank goodness there was a book 2.
Ill End this review with a song that to me summed up Mia's story/decision:
" Well what is this?
What am I coming to?
And beyond that, what am I gonna do?
Now there's blankness where once our eyes held the light
But that was so long ago
that was last night
Well, hat was that?
What's that sound that I hear?
It's just my lifetime
It's whistling past my ear
And when I look back
Everything seems smaller than life
The way it's been for so long
Since last night
Now I'm leaving
Any moment ill be gone
I think you'll notice
I think you'll wonder what went wrong
I'm not choosing
But I'm running out of fight
And this was decided so long ago
It was last night" -Mia's dads song

Picking up several years after the dramatic conclusion of If I Stay, Where She Went continues the story of Adam and Mia, from Adam's point of view. Ever since Mia's decision to stay - but not with him - Adam's career has been on a wonderful trajectory. His album, borne from the anguish and pain of their breakup, has made him a bona fide star. And Mia herself has become a top-rate cellist, playing in some of the finest venues in the world. When their respective paths put them both in New York City at the same time, the result is a single night in which the two reunite - with wholly satisfying results.
And don't miss Gayle's newest novel, JUST ONE DAY and the forthcoming companion, JUST ONE YEAR.
Where She Went Book Review:
This is book 2 of this series and If i thought book one left me an emotional mess, this one was an entirely different roller coaster ride. This book is told from Adams POV. Let me just say this is the first book I've read where I can honestly say I've felt like the GRIEF of the characters were oozing off the pages. In book one Adam and Mia's relationship was one of puppy love brought together by music. Remember me saying I had so many questions after book one, well Adam's story picks up 3 years later and with no him/Mia ( heart breaking)! The way Mrs. Forman told the story of their reunion and missing years was WOW! Not going to lie I had my doubts for a brief moment in the beginning, but as the story continues to play out the context of the what's/why's finally began to sink in. I was rooting for Mia and Adam from the beginning of this one despite all the grief and pain. Yet again Mrs. Forman you didn't disappoint.
Great job on a beautiful series!
I can't wait to read more of your work. You have earned the title of fine wine for this series!
Book rating for this series: A/5 stars

This book can be read without having read If I Stay as the author infuses just enough of Mia's story to make book readable on its own. However, readers will be missing out on something simply incredible if they do not read both books.
