Book Review:
Where do I even begin! As usual Kelli Maine you ROCK! I liked Taken but Taken by storm I LOVED. Needless to say this book is my favorite of this series so far. Man if I thought I loved Merrick from book one, HOLY COW I now have Merrick Jr also (fanning self). Utter hot alpha maleness like father like son, lol.
When this book first started and we’re introduced to MJ all I could think was WTH/OMG Merrick has a secret love child. Well we find out that MJ has been kept hidden his whole life from a father he has never none. Who would do this you ask? None other than his Grandfather, “The Old Man”. This man is a real piece of work. Some of his actions even had the hair on my arms standing up as I read this book.
MJ’s character was one filled with anger and heartbreak. Heartbreak at the hands of his once BFF/GF, Maddie. Maddie’s character was one I had a hot/cold relationship with in this book. She was a girl torn between protecting her father (who worked for “the old man”) and being with the love of her life, MJ? Her choice was to leave a broken hearted MJ (with no reasons why) and run into the arms of another man, SMH. Well she returns home to visit her father and the chemistry with MJ is still strong as ever after all these years. There is one problem though, she’s now engaged!!!
Maddie’s return and the return of merrick into MJ’s life sparks a fight in him that was downright sexy! Oh ya he’s merrick’s son…I’m going to take what I want type of guy, lol! As this story plays out we see the friendship and love maddie/MJ had for each other continue blossom. Howeve, Secrets/lies can rip even the strongest love apart sometime and Merrick jr was not a man blinded by LOVE. He wanted answers (fists pumps!!). Maddie’s secret she kept from MJ was gut wrenching. I swear this revelation was so Intense you couldn’t help but ask your self are they going to survive this? This book was filled with drama at every turn of the page.
Again I loved this book. MJ’s story was a heartfelt one of a young man who had grown up with a life based on a web of lies from the people he thought loved him most. Like father like son, He was a fighter and his fight to take back his life with the people he loved most in the world in it was an amazing journey to read. I’m seriously screaming I need book 3 ASAP Mrs. Maine. I need to find out WTH “the old man” is up to.
