Goodreads Description:
Johanna Walker is used to taking charge. But she’s about to meet someone who will make her lose control....
It has always been up to Johanna to care for her family, particularly her younger brother, Cole. With an absent father and a useless mother, she’s been making decisions based on what’s best for Cole for as long as she can remember. She even determines what men to date by how much they can provide for her brother and her, not on whatever sparks may—or may not—fly.
But with Cameron MacCabe, the attraction is undeniable. The sexy new bartender at work gives her butterflies every time she looks at him. And for once, Jo is tempted to put her needs first. Cam is just as obsessed with getting to know Jo, but her walls are too solid to let him get close enough to even try.
Then Cam moves into the flat below Jo’s, and their blistering connection becomes impossible to ignore. Especially since Cam is determined to uncover all of Jo’s secrets
even if it means taking apart her defenses piece by piece.

Book Review:
I was a huge fan of book one of this series on Dublin street and couldn't wait to get my hands on book 2. We were introduced to Jo walker briefly in book one as the fun and flirty bar waitress/BFF of joss (yup Braden's woman). However there is so much more to Johanna walker than sexiness, endless flirting and an annoying giggle that drives her friends crazy.
In this book we are introduced to Johanna walker mother, sister, and caretaker. Jo is a high school dropout that is working two jobs to support herself, her brother cole and her drunken mother. Jo has survived where many wouldn't due to determination and her good looks. Life's mission: find a man that's rich, cares enough about her to financially rescue her and cole from their hell. Oh ya and protect her heart in the process. Jo's reputation is one of a golf digger and she does little to change people's opinions of her. The only person that knows the whole truth of her life is her BFF Joss.
Well at an art event with her current boyfriend Jo meets Cameron Mcgabe. Words like hot, overly sexy and huge dick head come to mind. Cam is the boyfriend of the artist of the show. He is also a man who speaks his mind and passes judgment based on assumption. Yup he called Jo a gold digger. Needless to say this put a strain on things or so you would think. Cam is in need of a job and Jo being the bigger person speaks to her boss on his behalf.
So co workers?? Ya this is going to be interesting. Oh and to make it even better cam moves in the flat below Jo, lol. From this point on the banter/sexual tension between these two made for a great read. Well secrets eventually come to the light and one night Jo's did. Her mothers abuse went to cole and cam was there to witness it all. Again jumping to conclusions he tells Jo exactly what he thinks of her and the person to set him straight is known other than COLE. I loved this kid.
The friendship that develops between Jo, cam and cole was great. The chemistry between Jo and cam was off the charts. Cam opened up a side of Jo that lay dormant for so many years. However despite finally finding happiness she had to think if what was best for her family, cole. Cam and jo's relationship wasn't an easy one at all.
The emotional roller coaster Jo went through was a troubling one at times. It was heart breaking to see how much she sacrificed/took care of others but no one ever took care of her. This book reminded me sometimes everyone needs to be saved from themselves and the darkness threatening to swallow them. Jo's help comes in the form of awesome friends, a hot caring lover, an adorable brother and a long lost uncle/father figure.
I really liked this book. However I will say book one is still my favorite thus far. Great job mrs. Young!
Cheers,
