“Make me proud.” These were the last words Livie’s father ever spoke to her. In the seven years since her parents’ tragic death, Livie has done her best to keep this promise through her every choice, word, and action, while looking after her sister with strength and maturity. But with college right around the corner, unexpected challenges will test her resilience—and her heart.
Livie walks into Princeton with a solid plan, and she’s dead set on delivering on it: Rock her classes, set herself up for medical school, and meet a good, respectable guy to marry someday. What isn’t part of her plan are Jell-O shots; a lovable, party animal roommate she can’t say “no” to; and Ashton, the arrogant—and extremely attractive—captain of the men’s rowing team who makes Livie’s usually non-existent temper flare. Worse, he’s best friends and roommates with Connor, who fits Livie’s criteria perfectly. So why does she keep thinking about Ashton?
As Livie finds herself facing mediocre grades, career aspirations she no longer thinks she can handle, and feelings for Ashton that she shouldn’t have, she’s forced to let go of her last promise to her father and, with it, the only identity that she knows.
Born in small-town Ontario, Kathleen published her first book at the age of six with the help of her elementary school librarian and a box of crayons.
She is a voracious reader and the farthest thing from a genre-snob, loving everything from High Fantasy to Chick Lit.
Kathleen currently resides in a quaint town outside of Toronto with her husband, two beautiful girls, and an exhausting brood of four-legged creatures.
Three books in her best selling YA Paranormal Fantasy series - Causal Enchantment- are available now. The fourth and final book will be published in 2013.
Her New Adult Contemporary, TEN TINY BREATHS, originally self-published, has been acquired by Atria Books (a division of Simon & Schuster), along with three more books in the series.
As I've stated before this is livie's story. She is embarking on adult hood by starting college. Goal: study, try to have a little fun, keep focused, and eye on the prize of being a doctor one day. Yup thats basically her thought process in the beginning. But as we know her unstable sister will make things intresting for her. Her mission along with her psychiatrist is to break livie out her shell. Hello alcohol!!!
Livie's first college alcohol experience puts her on the radar of Ashton..... Mr. Player and hottie!!! Well don't worry Ashton is on livie's radar also due to the hotness factor but when he opens his mouth, ya not so attractive sometimes. As livie is trying to find herself, she realizes that even though you sometimes have a plan for your life, the bumps in the road that come along are always not that bad. BUT proceed with caution. I mean no one wants a broken heart right.
As this story plays out, livie is faced with decisions and matters of the heart. She has always played it safe her whole life. So when it comes to the men in her life should that change now? Oh ya I said men... Whoop whoop for the mini love triangle! Ashton is the bad, not going to lie he grew on me as I continued this read. He is broken and of course as we all know coping methods come in so many different forms. Then there is connor. Connor is pretty much mr. Perfect and safe. Also throw an Irish accent in there...oh ya smoking hot!!!!!
I honestly couldn't have asked for a better ending to this one. I already loved livie's character but in this book we really got to see her become a pretty awesome young woman. Her story was a great read. Great job Mrs. tucker. I can't wait for book 3!
Cheers,
