I Declare War
Serah always believed the world around her was perfect. As a Power, one of the warrior angels, she has spent her existence defending the innocent from evil. After tragedy strikes, tearing Serah's brother from her life, she's given the task of stopping the approaching apocalypse before it's too late.
Only one thing, though: she has to venture to Hell to do it.
Lucifer—or Luce, as he prefers to be called—has been biding his time in Hell, longing for revenge against those who oh-so-easily cast him into the pit. When the heavenly beauty shows up at his gate, he's just as captivated by her presence as she becomes of him. The attraction between them is palpable, and Serah's willpower slowly slips. How can this charming creature, this scarred Archangel, be the one annihilating the world she so loves?
As the war wages on, the world entwined in chaos, Serah starts questioning everything she ever knew. When the light and dark, hot and cold, finally collide, she has to make a choice—a choice that sets her world on fire, black and white exploding into colorful flames.
Serah has questions. She wants answers.
Luce just wants to play a game.
Why you might ask...well because both books I read by this author left me an emotional roller coaster and thinking about the story days later. As I sipped my merlot and tuned out the outside world I honestly became lost in the world mrs. Darhower created of angels/demons. Needless to say when the Boyfriend ( BD) tried getting my attention/talking some words were heard others umm not so much. Hey when a woman's reading about hot fallen angels, that can be pretty darn distracting, lol. Let me just take a moment to say this is probably the best paranormal book I've read this year! I devoured this in one sitting.
This is a love story of good vs evil, plain and simple. Ok Well maybe not so simple. Serah is an angel who has been selected by the almighty himself to help put an end to the WAR. Her task go to lucifer himself and convince him to end this war. Well she goes and what she doesn't expect is a charming attractive man that in many ways is completely opposite of everything she has ever learned about him. The time she spends with lucifer changes her and him in so many ways. Serah begins to question herself and her purpose in general.
The chemistry between serah and lucifer is WOW. There is only one problem serah kind of had a boyfriend before all this started, Michael the archangel and oh ya lucifer's brother. LOVE TRIANGLE involving two brothers....oh YA! The way lucifer makes serah feel is nothing she has ever experienced before not even with Michael. He opens up so many emotions in her she never knew she had.
No matter how you look at this, falling in love with the devil is dangerous and costs Serah EVERYTHING. This war between good/evil has taken the lives of so many and many have changed sides throughout the years. Can the hatred of two brothers be put to the side in hopes to save the woman that each of them loves? The ending of this book made me scream!!! It took me days to come to grips with how this one ended. It may not have been your ride off into the sunset type of happy ending but it was one of sacrifice/the power of love!
Mrs. Darhower you ROCK! This by far has been one of the best paranormal reads of 2013 for me. To all my readers/followers who liked angelfall by Susan Ee I encourage you to give this one a try.
Ill leave you with a few of my favorite quotes!!!
I think you're my apple," she said quietly. "I don't regret tasting you. I can't. You're not perfect by any means—there are sweeter out there, and you have a few rotten spots—but I'd never have found a juicer apple anywhere in the world."-Serah”
Someday she’d remember, she swore. Someday she’d know his name. Someday she’d know hers. And someday, she’d know why: why he haunted her every thought, why, when she looked into his eyes, she felt like she was home. Because time passes, and memories fade, but a beating heart never truly forgets anything. Never.” -Serah
