Intimidator (Preyfinders, #2)
by Cari Silverwood
This is Book 2 in the new Preyfinder series. Book 1, Precious Sacrifice, is currently in the anthology, Kept. Willow has her hands full scraping out a life in a grungy neighborhood where drugs and crime are the norm. Life is hard, but it's about to get harder. Being transformed into a sexual pet for an alien warrior may be her only way out. But Stom, the man she's been awarded to as a battle honor, has no use for a female, not when his heart is still in a million pieces. Though the need to be Stom's mate is overwhelming her, mending his heart isn't going to be enough. His enemies are searching, looking for the women who are more than they seem, but she's in their hands before she discovers she's more-than-human. Sometimes it sucks to be a chosen one.Evil versus Good versus Naughtiness
You don’t always get to have really bad, bad guys in stories. But take a soap opera scifierotic romance and you’re almost guaranteed a few. Intimidator is Luke vs Darth Vader but no movie hero ever gets to do what Stom does with Willow. Erotic romance, yum.
I’ve always loved scifi books and TV shows like Firefly and Star Trek, but this Preyfinderseries is the first where I could let loose with my crazy imagination with an alien as my hero.
Expect erotic.
“I’m bad?” she whispered.
“You. Mmm.” He lowered his head and scented her neck, lips pressing on her, here, there – kisses that stirred her more than they should, because they promised so much. Where else might he kiss? Drifts of air cooled her where his nose touched her skin, where he breathed on her.
“Bad. Definitely.” Then he licked her neck, slowly, in one helluva long caress with his tongue, like a predator tasting his mate, before he kissed her softly again.
Expect darkness and tragedy.
Though she writhed and nearly tore her arms from their sockets, nothing came loose, her body stayed there, splayed out, blood trickling from the holes. Fear clawed at her so hard that red prickled at her eyes.
Expect sexy alpha men.
Willow studied him from waist upward, swallowing, shaking her head as if not sure of what she saw, her neck going back and up to encompass his height. “You’re big...and your weird tattoos. Shit.”
“True. I am large.”
She giggled.
Expect silly humor.
There’s only one alien trope I definitely am not visiting in this series and that’s tentacles. I know all about tentacle sex due to some accidental googling. No way. Not unless someone hascalamari for lunch.
Expect scifi action scenes where things go BOOM. But most of all, expect romance with a little kinkiness. Though each book in the Preyfinder series features one couple, such as Stomand Willow, there’s an overarching plot where a galactic war is played out in our backyard – planet Earth. But the women in these stories aren’t just flowers in a vase, they get to play a part in some kick ass action too.
Action scenes are something I love writing.
Once the sexy scenes are done, and the happily ever after is tied up, we need to see some bad guy alien butt get annihilated in a bullet-flying, scene of mass destruction. Walls crumbling, body count rising, lasers zapping, eyeballs rolling across the floor. Screams...
What? Too much for you? Spoilsport. Okay, have some more smooching.
Whatever it is you look for, this series has it in abundance. Except tentacles.
