Scare crow by Julie Hockley Blog Tour Review

Sunday, April 20, 2014

Nineteen-year-old Emily Sheppard is losing her san.

Ever since her mob king boyfriend, Cameron Hillard, abandoned her for her own good, Emmy has been attempting to move on with her charmed college student life as if nothing happened. Now rejected from the underworld and left grieving over Cameron’s alleged death.

Emmy realizes she belongs nowhere. Worse yet, she is now keeping a dangerous secret.

After just a short time with Emily, Cameron has lost control over his world. As he miserably attempts to return to what is left of his life and unravel the mess he has made of the underworld, Emily’s hate turns to desperation. She needs to kill the kingpins responsible for Cameron’s death before they come looking for her. As Cameron secretly observes Emily, he has no idea of the danger he has placed her in—or that it may already be too late for him to save her.

Scare Crow is a tale of revenge, terror, and love as Emmy and Cameron embark on separate journeys to face enemies, correct past mistakes, and find their way to their destinies.

A former germaphobe and clean-freak turned mother of two, Julie collects enough tears and snot in a month to recreate Slimer Monster from Ghostbusters. Other than playing devoted wife and mama, Julie is the funniest person in the room (according to the 3 year-old and 2 year-old in said room) and can build the most awesome Lego rocket ship you’ve ever set your eyes on (according to her). Oh, and she has a full time career and has also written a bestselling novel. Superhero, or just downright insane?

I have been eagerly awaiting this sequal by mrs. Hockley and my goodness this one had me in knots! Book one left me heart broken and needing more of Emmys story. The beginning of this one was a painful memory  of how book 1 ended but don't worry this one got juicy really quickly! In a sense this is both Emily/Cameron's story of survival and revenge. Emily is fighting to live from day to day. She is literally a walking zombie. How does one live without their other part? To put it simply you have to have something to fight for and a couple of morning sickness episodes later she realized she did.  On the other side of town Cameron is playing the role of stalker, drug lord, and protector. The decisions he's made have not only effected him but  put a strain on those that are close to him. Yup good ole Carly and spider are back. I have to admit Carly grew on me this book. Some of my other favorite secondary characters also remade appearances, like griff. Yes ladies he's back and ready to fight for Emmys love. This book was an amazing tangled web of deceit and lies. As this story unfolded the reader got to see a deeper side of Emily and Cameron. Let me just say beauty/brains equal a good stArting  reciepe  for REVENAGE and men...where do I even begin? Words like stubborn come to mind when thinking of Cameron. It was so many times I wanted to scream at him in this one and say ' your running out of time '. Congrats mrs. Hockley on an amazing book 2.  The continuation  of Emmy and Cameron's story was a great/unforgettable read .

Cheers,
Dr. Books
