An old flame rekindled . . .
Zara Cinders always knew Ham Reece was the one, but he wasn't interested in settling down. When she found someone who was, Ham walked out of her life. Three years later, Zara's lost her business, her marriage, and she's barely getting by in a tiny apartment on the wrong side of the tracks. As soon as Ham hears about Zara's plight, he's on her doorstep offering her a lifeline. Now, it will take every ounce of will power she possesses to resist all that he offers.
Ham was always a traveling man, never one to settle down in one town, with one woman, for more time than absolutely necessary. But Ham's faced his own demons, and he's learned a lot. About himself, and about the life he knows he's meant to live. So when he hears that Zara's having a rough time, he wants to be the one to help. In fact, he wants to do more than that for Zara. A lot more. But first, he must prove to Zara that he's a changed man.

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.
Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).
Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.
And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

I will say this again... I absolutely love Kristen Ashley. She is one of my favorite authors. This book has to be one of my favorite of this Colorado mountain series. This is Zara and hams story. Their relationship has always been one of no strings attached but there was an unspoken understanding. Until Zara wants a life of stability and that even includes a mans love as in the forever kind. She knows ham is the love of her life but he isn't the a forever type of man. The sad part was he knew this as well sooooooo.....oh parting is such sweet sorrow.
Years later Zara finds herself divorced, miserable, almost bankrupt, and lonely. Well ham hasn't had it all that easy these past years as well you know with that whole ax murder thing. He now finds himself re evaluating what's important in life, like the one who got away. His reevaluation brings him back to a town he thought he left in his rear view mirror years ago and to a woman he still loves deeply. The trouble is going to be convincing her of this.
Zara and hams rekindling/roommate status then progression to lovers was a great read. Mrs. Ashley gave us snippets into the past of Zara and ham that shed light on so much throughout this book. The obstacles these two had throughout life many wouldn't have survived . But over the years they always had each other no matter the circumstances. I loved Zara's character. She never broke even when many people would have. Hams protective instincts concerning her were breathtaking at moments. I have loved this series so far. Great job Mrs. Ashley!
