Tears of Tess by Pepper Winters Book Review

A New Adult Dark Contemporary Romance, not suitable for people sensitive to grief, slavery, and nonconsensual sex. A story about finding love in the strangest of places, a will of iron that grows from necessity, and forgiveness that may not be enough.

“My life was complete. Happy, content, everything neat and perfect.
Then it all changed.
I was sold.”

Tess Snow has everything she ever wanted: one more semester before a career in property development, a loving boyfriend, and a future dazzling bright with possibility.

For their two year anniversary, Brax surprises Tess with a romantic trip to Mexico. Sandy beaches, delicious cocktails, and soul-connecting sex set the mood for a wonderful holiday. With a full heart, and looking forward to a passion filled week, Tess is on top of the world.

But lusty paradise is shattered.

Kidnapped. Drugged. Stolen. Tess is forced into a world full of darkness and terror.

Captive and alone with no savior, no lover, no faith, no future, Tess evolves from terrified girl to fierce fighter. But no matter her strength, it can’t save her from the horror of being sold.

Can Brax find Tess before she’s broken and ruined, or will Tess’s new owner change her life forever?

Coming Septemeber 2013 with help by Black Firefly (lighting the way with self-publishing)

Pepper Winters wears many roles. Some of them include writer, reader, sometimes wife. She loves dark, taboo stories that twist with your head. The more tortured the hero, the better, and she constantly thinks up ways to break and fix her characters. Oh, and sex… her books have sex. 
She loves to travel and has an amazing, fabulous hubby who puts up with her love affair with her book boyfriends.
Her debut book Tears of Tess will be followed with Quintessentially Q. You didn’t think Q could stop so soon, did you? Her other two titles, Last Shadow and Broken Chance will be coming soon.

This book came across my goodreads page and after I read the blurb I was SOLD. This one falls up there with some of my favorite dark reads like captive in the dark by cj Roberts and the tied man by tabaitha mcgown. This was my first read by mrs. Winters and I'm itching to get my hands on book 2 already. I love it when I can go back through a book and realize I've basically highlighted the whole thing lol.

This is the story of Tess a young woman whose love life is perfect to the outside world but her sex life is lacking excitement. Her sexual appetite scares her at times with thoughts of damaging her relationship with her boyfriend brax. Brax surprises Tess with a vacation to Mexico and what was suppose to be fun/sex in the sun turns into another tale of human trafficking. Tess ends up being a GIFT to Q mercer billionaire e
xtraordinaire . Q's first impression of Tess was she's a fighter and not broken which translated to HOT!

Tess refuses to adhere to the mindset of a sex slave. She's feisty and can down right be mouthy that us Until her sexual appetite takes over Bringing her sexual fantasies to the forefront.  Tess and Q's relationship was a great one to read. For majority of this book Q's background was a mystery oh but when it all came to the light of day. Geez... Swoon worthy man, yes he is! Tess and Q both battled their feelings for each other until they could push no further.

This battle of stubbornness ended with the local authorities knocking on Q's door. Seriously a shaking my head moment at this part of the book for me. Here in my mind is a crossroads...Do you run from the man that makes you feel everything you've ever dreamed of? Also do you send away the only woman who has been able to tame the monster that lives within you? Oh boy decisions...decisions..

Let me just say as this story unfolded there was never a dull moment. The ending of this one I LOVED. Many human trafficking stories I've read end with broken women who are put back together at the hands of their capture. This story was one of human trafficking yes, but it was more of a love story of a strong minded/kidnapped woman healing the heart of a broken man. Ok ok I'm sure by now you think I'm nuts. Seriously, read the book and you will understand hopefully my thought process, lol.

I loved this story I have the highlights on my kindle to prove it. As I've stated before I hold it up there with some of my favorite dark reads like captive in the dark by CJ Roberts and the tied man by tabiatha mcgown. My favorite part of this book had to be the epilogue, we finally get to see who Q really is and how he got to be what he is now.

Great job Mrs. Winters! I can't wait for book 2. I need more Q ASAP!

Cheers,
Dr. Books

Three little words that terrified, stole my breath, and made my life flicker before my eyes.
Three little words:
I was sold.” -Tess

“I came back for the man I see inside the master. The man who thinks he’s a monster because of his twisted desires. The man who rescues” -Tess

“I fully believed I was made for him and he was made for me. Two halves of the same fucked-upness. Two souls from the same twisted desires, unable to fully be free until we found each other.” -Tess

“I promise to protect you, ravage you, hunt those who hurt you, and give you the life you deserve. My fortune is yours. My secrets are yours. And I will give you the corpses of the men who hurt you.” -Q

“This was a contract between two monsters fighting in the dark. Our blood was basic ink for such a deal—a deal of pain and endless pleasure.” -Tess
