Don't make me beautiful by Elle casey Book Review

A ROMANTIC SUSPENSE NOVEL. No one knew a woman lived there or that she even existed. A monster, living in darkness...

At twenty-two, Nicole doesn't even look human anymore. The beast made sure of that. So she hides. A monster, consigned to a life of fear and solitude. This is all she deserves, she is quite sure of that.

And then one day out of the blue, the autographed baseball caught by Brian Jensen at the latest Marlins game enters her prison and manages to turn her world completely upside down.

Temptation comes in the form of pity at first, and then perhaps something more. Does she dare to believe the things she's told, that this is not the life she was meant to live? That being a monster is not her forever-fate? And will she be willing to risk everything, to reach out and accept the helping hands around her and share her deepest, darkest secrets? She knows only too well that hands can hurt. Finding out whether they can also heal is a risky proposition, especially when the beast is still out there. Looking for her.

**This story was inspired by true events. If you liked the movie "Sleeping With the Enemy", then you might like this story too. CONTENT WARNING: Violence, foul language, and adult situations. Not meant for younger readers.**

I know I've said this before but there comes a time when a book you read sticks with you days/weeks later. This book was one for me. This is by far one of the best books I've read in 2013. This was my first book by mrs. Casey and I can guantree it won't be my last. This story was based on true events and one of the worst cases of domestic violence I've ever read.

This is the story of Nicole/Nikki the woman nicknamed the monster. Nikki is a woman who has been the victim of abuse for years at the hands of her boyfriend. She is broken in so many ways. When I say broken I mean her spirit is broken as well as she's had almost over 100 bones broken in her body at some point. Her life changes one day because of a little boy and his baseball.

Li Li is a little boy from the neighbor hood that hit his freshly signed baseball through Nikki's window. A chance encounter causes him to see Nikki's face and the course of events that happen next will change the lives of all involved forever. His father Brian is amazing. If there was a definition for a perfect man especially from an emotional/sensitive standpoint he is the poster child. Brian finds Nikki beaten half to death on her kitchen floor and he saves her life. The chances he took and lengths he went to protect this woman were unbelievable. With the help of an ex wife, nosey neighbor, caring doctors/nurses and the love of a child this group of people set out to protect Nikki and in the process become a family.

As much as this was a story of survival it was also one of love. Brain and Nikki's love story reminded me of the old temptations song " beauty's only skin deep".

Their love story by far wasn't a fairy tale but she got her Prince Charming that's for sure. Despite her troubles I loved Nikki's character. Only one word can be used to describe her "FIghter".  In the end she fought for herself, her family, and true love!

I can go on forever about this book because I loved it so much. This book is not for the faint of heart. This is the type of read that will haunt you for weeks after. Mrs. Casey GREAT job this story was beautifully written. I can't wait to read more of your work!

Cheers,
