Remembering Love by Nadine Christian Book Review

Blurb
When her beloved foster parents pass away, Holly discovers a past both shocking and heartbreaking: the murder/suicide of her biological parents on the South Pacific island of Pitcairn, famous for the HMAV Bounty mutineers. Travelling to a home she does not remember, Holly reconnects with long-lost childhood friend Jack. An old friendship quickly becomes more…until a dark secret is uncovered.

Will joyous love remembered become heartbreak? Can she find out the truth before someone else is hurt?

Meet Nadine:

Nadine Christian lives on Pitcairn Island, a small isle in the middle of the South Pacific, with her husband, five children, four goats, two cats and thirty chickens. With its rich maritime history, Pitcairn’s romantic past comes alive in her novels, capturing the taste of life on an isolated tropical island, miles from the rush and bustle of normal city life.

What happens when a little girl of 5 has her life ripped from her?  Holly taken from the only place and friend Jack she has known her short 5 years, gets placed in foster care far from the life she knew.  Brought up by loving parents, lots of brothers and sisters, life is perfect.  Grown, working and leading her own life, her foster parents pass away.  Secrets revealed ones she never knew.  She finds a trunk with information she doesn't remember. She needs answers, so she goes home, to a strange land where she knows no one.  Tongues wag with gossip as the stranger steps off the boat.  Gossip and Rumors.  Holly looks exactly like her mother and that is all that anyone needs to fuel the fire.

Day by day she looks for answers.  She meets Kristy who works at the general store and Jack.  Not remembering, no recollection of who he was to her, the friendship they shared as children.  Jack though is a different story.  He remembers Holly and seeing her again only fuels his emotions.  Masie won't hear of it.  The old "bugger"  wags her tongue and starts rumors flying again.  As Holly starts to remember, the questions just keep coming.

Why is everyone saying what they are?  Who started the rumors of back when and now!  One person is responsible and has so much hate for Holly and her mother Celeste, but has everything wrong and has hurt people for the wrong reasons.  As time goes on and everything is revealed, she and Jack confront the person responsible for it all.  Holly remembers that horrible day, finding her father and then her mother.  Dead!  Why would her dad do such a thing....

Jack stays by Holly's side through it all, realizing she's the one for him, but does she feel the same?   Will time heal all.... Will Holly find her answers and be able to move on?  Was it all for naught...

Cheers,
Steph
