Three Broken Promises by Monica Murphy Book Review

Breakout New Adult sensation Monica Murphy returns with a hot new contemporary romance—a heartfelt story of second chances, forgiveness, and redemption.

Commitment. That’s what I really want from Colin. Ever since my brother, Danny, died in Iraq, Colin’s done so much to help me, including giving me a job at his popular restaurant so I can leave my crappy waitressing job at the strip joint. But lying in bed with him every night to comfort him from his horrible nightmares isn’t enough anymore. I know he feels guilty about Danny’s death, about not going to Iraq, but I can’t keep living this double life.

I love him desperately, but he’s got so many demons, and if he can’t open up to me now, then he’ll never be the real partner I need him to be. I gave him a month, and now I’m out of here. If he truly loves me like he says, he knows where to find me.

So this is the story of Colin and Jen. You meet them in Second Chance Boyfriend, so I would recommend read these books in order to you get every characters story and background. This story is full of heartbreak and angst and just two broken people and need saving.

Colin is in the restaurant business and is sexy, very successful, smart. He doesn't do relationships because he doesn't let people get close. He has memories that still haunt him of Jen's brother Danny. They all grew up together. Danny end up being killed while on duty and it basically killed the family. He has guilt that is eating him alive.

Jen has lived with nothing but heartbreak. Dealing with the loss of her brother which tore the family apart she moves away from family and it leaves her to survive on her own. Colin came to her rescue and took her under his wing and provided for her. They have this smokin' hot chemistry but Colin is afraid to act upon it and it just pushes Jen away. She wants more from Colin and one moment she feels like they could be something but other times it just seems like their friends. I didn't like all the back and forth with these two trying to figure their way of being together. I wanted to smack both of these characters when secrets are revealed and decisions have to be made.

The ending is a HEA and I'm glad to see this couple grow. Can't wait for the next installment!

Cheers,
Holly
