Caleb Drake never got over his first love. Not when he got married. Not when she got married. When life suddenly comes full circle Caleb must decide how how far he is willing to go to get the aloof and alluring Olivia Kaspen back. But for every action in life there is a consequence, and soon Caleb finds out that sometimes love comes at an unbearably high price.
I would like to write a novel that every, single person loves, but not even J.K. Rowling could do that. Instead, I try to write stories that pull on people's emotions. I believe that sadness is the most powerful emotion, and swirled with regret the two become a dominating force. I love villains. Three of my favorites are Mother Gothel, Gaston and the Evil Queen who all suffered from a pretty wicked case of vanity (like me). I like to make these personality types the center of my stories.
I love rain, Coke, Starbucks and sarcasm. I hate bad adjectives and the word "smolder". If you read my book-I love you. If you hate my book-I still love you, but please don't be mean to me; I'm half badass, half cry baby.
"Olivia, I once told you that I would love again, and that you would hurt forever. Do you remember? It was a lie. I knew it was a lie, even as I said it. I've never loved anyone after you. I never will." -Caleb
Holy hell... Tarryn fisher what a way to end a series. People this series is far from happy endings but thank you mrs. Fisher for giving this fan Olivia/caleb closure.
If you haven't read books one and two of this series please stop reading this review now.
This book is told from Caleb's POV. Caleb I love him but he is just as dysfunctional as the rest of the characters involved. Granted I sympathize with him being a little off , I mean if your wife was cheating with your brother and told you that your daughter wasn't yours... Ummm yes a temporary nervous breakdown may have been understandable. Despite how things ended in dirty red, caleb knows what he wants and that's Olivia. There's one problem Olivia has a hubby. Well in Caleb's mind honestly this was probably seen as more of a challenge.
In this book mrs. Fisher gives us a deeper side of Olivia. She is still as broken/screwed up as ever but a softer side of her peeks through a little as this story plays out. We see the brilliant attorney, attempts at being the domesticated wife and hopes of one day being a MOTHER! Ummm ya the last one through me for a loop as well.
Olivia/Caleb's love story of lies and distrust was a destructible one. Not only were their lives affected by many of the choices they made but it also weighed heavily on loved ones as well. Mrs. Fisher gave her readers a story of two dysfunctional lovers that had to literally hit rock bottom before a new chapter of their lives could be written together.
This book made me laugh, cry and even pissed me off. This series was most definitely one of the craziest I've ever read but it's also one ill never forget.
Great job mrs. Fisher!
