Book Review
This makes the third time this month I've read a book touching on the topic of Abortion. However the topic of rape and abortion together, ya it's a first. The story Mrs. Ayala told of a young nurse Maryanne and her decisions/life following this traumatic event can only be described as realistic. As I have said so many times before, a persons current circumstances leads to there current choices. Was their choice right? It was right for them! Ok now ill get off my soap box.
This is Maryanne's story an oh boy what a story it is. Maryanne is a nurse who while out one night her drink was drugged. This whole scene I just heard my moms voice "if you leave/put your drink down don't drink it again", smh. Waking the next morning in a daze she comes to the realization she was raped. At this point in the book my heart broke for Maryanne, and the choice she now was faced with in her life.
Let me stop to talk about the men in her life for a moment. Lucas is the handsome ironman triathlon athlete. He is sexy, funny and charming. Yup he seems like the total package. But he lets his training/job interfere with their relationship and MaryAnne seeks comfort from someone else. She goes right into the arms of the preachers son. The ironic thing to me about this story was she was RAPED at a CHURCH PARTY! But hey i guess the last thing on a Rapists mind is his choice in venue.
As this story plays out Maryanne finds out she is pregnant as a result of the rape. CHOICES....DECISIONS...well Maryann chose ABORTION with the hopes of forgetting. The only problem is how will the police ever find the rapist if the baby dies. Ok I'm going to stop for a moment and get on my medical soap box. DNA.... As I read the scenes revolving around the rape, I was screaming umm where is the rape kit! Nope no rape kit, SMH. So once again if the baby dies so does the DNA of the rapist.
The course of events following the rape were pretty intense for all parties involved. SECRETS, DANGER and LOVE are a lethal combination. Maryanne's world continues to be turned upside down when Lucas is blamed for her rape. Nope you heard me right. But it gets better her Rapist offers her an off shore abortion (illegal ofcourse) to destroy any evidence. At this point in the book I fell in love with Lucas character. His fight to save Maryann and the baby was heart wrenching. Will he make it in time to save them? And if he does will there relationship survive the fallout of secrets between them? I'm going to just stop to say for a man to be willing to raise and love another mans child is RARE, especially considering the circumstances. This in my book equals a GOODMAN! Of course as you continue to read you find out Lucas has his own issues with abortion (nope not giving it away read the book).
I liked this book. Though the storyline was a great one, this read was a little choppy for me. This book alternated for me from being slow, to gripping/intense, to slow etc.. You guys know how much I love an emotional read, but this one didn't keep my attention throughout the whole book liked I hoped it would. Also the doctor in me is still screaming and smh were is the rape kit, lol.
Good job Mrs. Ayala. You touched on some very sensitive topics that face women daily.

Let Love In by Melissa Collins Teaser
Synopsis:
Madeleine Becker lost everything when her parents died when she was ten years old. The only way for her to move on is to build walls around her heart and keep everyone at a safe distance. Her logic: she can't get hurt if she doesn't fall in love. That theory is blown to pieces when she meets Reid Connely during her freshman year at college. He is gorgeous and darkly mysterious. He understands Maddy's pain all too well, but sharing his pain would mean breaking down the walls he put up around his own heart. Maddy's inner strength, snarky-ass personality and breath taking beauty force Reid to reevaluate his world. Together they find out what happens when they let love in.

Snippet:
Here's a snippet from Maddy's first encounter with Reid - Enjoy!
There was a group playing quarters on the island and another group lining up shots on the breakfast bar – so not my scene. I just shrugged my shoulders, opened the door, pulled out a bottle of water and, when I turned around to walk back outside, I face-planted into a wall of solid muscle.
“Hand me one?” His voice was smooth and... gruff at the same time. Red-faced, I turned back around and got him his water, glad for the cool respite that the opened refrigerator door offered.
“Here you go.” I could not peel my eyes away from his mouth as he moved the bottle to his lips. They were perfect - beautiful and full in a completely masculine way. I watched, completely fascinated, as his throat moved, downing the water in three or four large gulps. He wiped his mouth with his forearm and I couldn’t help but let my eyes travel up the rest of his arm to his biceps and shoulders – those were the same as his lips – perfect. Amazingly, gorgeously, utterly, divinely perfect. Muscled and tanned, his arms were mouthwatering.
My knees wobbled. My heart thudded. Thousands of butterflies spread their wings in my belly.
“Thanks…” he stared blankly at my face for a minute and I couldn't help but wondering if he liked what he saw. He cleared his throat and roused me from my little daydream where the gorgeous boy is mesmerized by the maybe-a-little-above-average looking girl. That’s when I realized he was asking for my name.
“Maddy. Sorry, my name’s Maddy." I nearly choked on my tongue to get my freaking name out.

Permanent record by Leslie Stella BOOK REVIEW
Amazon Description
Being yourself can be such a bad idea. For sixteen-year-old Badi Hessamizadeh, life is a series of humiliations. After withdrawing from public school under mysterious circumstances, Badi enters Magnificat Academy. To make things “easier,” his dad has even given him a new name: Bud Hess. Grappling with his Iranian-American identity, clinical depression, bullying, and a barely bottled rage, Bud is an outcast who copes by resorting to small revenges and covert acts of defiance, but the pressures of his home life, plummeting grades, and the unrequited affection of his new friend, Nikki, prime him for a more dangerous revolution. Strange letters to the editor begin to appear in Magnificat’s newspaper, hinting that some tragedy will befall the school. Suspicion falls on Bud, and he and Nikki struggle to uncover the real culprit and clear Bud’s name. Permanent Record explodes with dark humor, emotional depth, and a powerful look at the ways the bullied fight back.

Book Review
Every once in a while you come across a GEM that the story line is so powerful it should be read by FAMILIES. That's exactly the category Mrs. Stella's book should be in! From the blurb alone I knew this book would be different than my usual reads, but every now and then you need a good dose of reality. This story is the REALITY of a young middle eastern high school student and his PURE HELL. What Badi Hessamizadeh had to endure in his short life would bring a person to there knees knowing your child or even family member was going through what he did. This was a very emotional read. Mrs. Stella touched on so many sensitive topics effecting today youth. Let me stop and say kudos Mrs. Stella for addressing not one but multiple important topics facing the next generation. The way you meshed together bullying, suicide, cultural differences, and the effects of 9-11/terrorism on middle eastern families ( just to name a few) was beautiful. This story flows so well.
What happens to a child that is told by society/his peers/ and even his family ( in certain situations) your not good enough and your weird? That child is a Badi Hessamizadeh. Someone who gets toilet dunked daily, fingers slammed in lockers, beat up just because he breaths your air, hit in the head with skate boards.....you get my point.... If your cringing by my description trust me there is a lot worse in this book. But everyone has his breaking point. Badi's included a bottle of pills and explosives in a toilet.
Well surviving his suicide attempt, getting dismissed from his local public school and having his parents change his name to something more American sounding has given him a second chance right? Ya you would think but you know the saying the grass isn't always greener on the other side..... Well it's TRUE! New school, new name (bud Hess), new friends ( I was fist pumping at this) but same old simple minded high school drama making anyone that is slightly different an outcast. Equipped with therapy sessions, meds he's not taking( for anxiety and depression), a teacher who tries to understand him ( or so he thinks) and new BFF's bud tries to make the best of his second chance. Of course peace and happiness would be to easy.
As the drama at his new school starts to spiral out of control and all fingers point to him, Bud fights/chases his demons (bullies/to a extent his parents). As this story played out we see bud struggle to push forward and have the courage to fight for his beliefs. I mean why should you have to sell chocolate bars for a school if you don't want to? I loved buds character. In my mind I thought of him as a young Sheldon Cooper lol. His logic was always right and the rest of the worlds was wrong. Smh, smart people lol. In this book bud made some stupid decisions, but what teenager doesn't. My favorite part of this book was the ending. Bud sees himself filled with that same anger/hate as before, and is slipping down the same disastrous road. However unlike before is his life the same as it once was? If he makes his statement, will he finally win or will they win?
I loved this book. This book is one that I recommend to parents, kids, grandparents etc to read. The sensitive topics touched on in this book by Mrs. Stella are of grave importance today. If you don't believe me ask your self over the years how many times have you heard in the news about school shootings or related incidents. Bullying is a serious problem that is not addressed enough. Be sure to hug/give and say I love you to your brothers/sisters, children,/grandchildren etc.....I did!
Great job Mrs. Stella!

Flat out Matt by Jessica Park book review
Amazon description
Matt is a junior at MIT. He’s geeky, he's witty, he's brilliant.
And he’s also very, very stupid.
When beautiful, cool, insightful Julie moves in with Matt’s family, why (oh why!) does he pretend to be his absent brother Finn for her alleged benefit?
It seems harmless enough until her short-term stay becomes permanent. And until it snowballs into heart-squeezing insanity. And until he falls in love with Julie, and Julie falls in love with Finn.
But … Matt is the right one for her. If only he can make Julie see it. Without telling her the truth, without shattering them all. Particularly his fragile sister Celeste, who may need Julie the most.
You saw Matt through Julie’s eyes in FLAT-OUT LOVE. Now go deeper into Matt’s world in this FLAT-OUT MATT novella. Live his side of the story, break when his heart breaks, and fall for the unlikely hero all over again.
Take an emotional skydive for two prequel chapters and seven FLAT-OUT LOVE chapters retold from his perspective, and then land with a brand-new steamy finale chapter from Julie.

Book review
It's no secret how big of a fan I am of mrs. Park's book flat out love. I fell in love with Matt then and I just re fell in love with him all over today. It's something about the geeky tshirt and MIT nerdy behavior that makes me weak in the knees. Re reading many of my favorite chapters and scenes from Matt's point of view was a gift. FOL was a love story built around one families rather unique grieving process. In this book Mrs. Park gave us insight to the infamous Finn and his thoughts toward his family. There is know doubt Finn was the life of the party, but Matt was the glue that held everything together. I mean this literally. My heart really broke for him all over again. He took care of everyone else, but know one took care of him. Finn was a great big brother, the one piece of advice he gave Matt in the beginning rang true in the end. Don't be safe, allow your self to have fun, allow yourself to be loved by someone for ALL the right reasons not just the obvious ones. Matt and Julie's love story retold was even better this go around. This Gem allowed me as huge fan of FOL to re live some of the happiest and saddest moments in one of my favorite books. I will say after this I still wasn't fans of Matt's parents, but I have a new found love for Celeste. Mrs. Park I think she needs her on book hint hint lol. My favorite part of this book was the ending. After reliving happy and sad moments through Matty's eyes....now knowing this geekish, sexy intelligent man doesn't just posses intellectual skills but also skills in the bedroom( read the last chapter, lol)....good LAWD.
Let me personally thank you Mrs. Park for this amazing gem and sharing it with us!
Great job.... I loved it!
If you haven't read flat out love I strongly encourage you to. It was on my top reads for 2012 list. You wont regret it. You will laugh, cry and even get pissed off. But the characters and there story you will always remember!!

Book Review
This book can only be described as beautifully unique. I devoured this book in one sitting. It had a few firsts for me: 1. Hot sexy UFL fighter 2. Prostutition breeding ( yes you heard me right) . This book had me from the opening pages. I don't think I've ever re read a prologue so many times. I mean for example:
“You may raise her.” His gaze slides back to mine. “But make no mistake, Milena, if you do anything to interfere with my plan, I will kill her. Then, you and I will start from scratch, and I’ll not make it pleasant for you. Do you understand?” As if he can see into my soul and feel my fear. -- Dominic and Milena
“My hand absently rubs my now soft belly. Once full of life and promise, and now, completely void. And through all this, I feel . . . nothing.”--Milena
This is only a taste of how Mrs. Salsbury draws you into this book. To be honest after I read the prologue , I didn't know what to expect. But what I did know was this book would tread the waters of being DIFFERENT/unique than most books I read. ( I'm weird I like different! ).
This is Raven and Jonah's journey of LOVE. I know it sounds cheesy, but trust me it was seriously a freaking journey/obstacle course these two went through. Raven is the beautiful product of a powerful pimp( who owns and runs most of vegas) and a whore. Her creation was for breeding purposes only ( my freaking heart broke from the beginning pages). Imagine this.... How would you feel not knowing a mothers touch of intimacy torward her child? How would you feel knowing your parents don't love and want you reguardless of who they are? Well welcome to ravens life. The only acceptance and peace she finds is under the hood of a car. Oh ya she's a grease monkey! ( please see pic below for dr.books version of raven, lol). Well one day while under the hood, raven hears the engine of a sexy powerful truck....What she didn't expect was for the owner to be even sexier.
Let me introduce you to Mr. Jonah Slade.... Sexy mouth watering yummy UFL fighter and Vegas play boy. I can honestly say this first meeting was LUST at first sight between these two. I loved Jonah's character. Yes he was a Vegas play boy until he met the right girl. The way he loved protected and emotionally cared for raven in this book made him double swoon worthy.
"Baby, I promise you that you’ll never want for physical contact again.” His big, strong hands hold my head and he leans his forehead against mine. “I’ll always hold you when you’re scared.” He softly kisses my jaw. “Comfort you when you’re sad.” His lips brush against my cheeks. “Take care of you when you’re sick.” Tilting my head back, he kisses my forehead. He bends down and his hazel eyes narrow into mine. “I’ll make it my life’s mission to make up for every second you were neglected."--Jonah
This is a man who for the first time in life has a chance to fell complete.
"I was cold.Dead on the inside from the time I heard about my day's accident. Never felt anything outside of kicking ass or a killer hit in the octagon. Fighting gave me my breath, but you brought me back to life."--Jonah
Biggest fight of his life and girl of his dreams by his side... Umm ya that would be to easy... Leave it to the daddy/pimp to try to ruin things. Jonah's fight wasn't just in the ring, he also fought for love, life, and freedom! The sacrifices this man was willing to make for the woman he loved, WOW! I'm telling you guys double swoon worthy.
Most of the secondary characters in this book I liked for the most part but there was ONE I LOVED! Blake oh Blake....lol funny and sexy doesn't even begin to describe him (smh)! Mrs. Salsbury I need more Blake! To say I loved this book is an understatement. Jonah/raven were literally in for the fight of there lives. The last few chapters gave me freaking heart palpations, I couldn't turn the pages quick enough. Despite the craziness throughout this book, the epilogue gave me PEACE and brought me to tears ( yes I'm a crier).
"No never. I would've fought. However long it took. I'd never give up until I was free. You're my life, Jonah. My family, my love, my best friend. Nothing , not even destiny could keep me from you."--raven
Great job Mrs. Salsbury! I can't wait to read more from you!
Please see the dr. books versions of raven and Jonah below!

Author Interview
1.. Where were you born and where do you call home?
I was born in Pueblo, Colorado. I don’t live there anymore, but I do still live in Colorado. I love it here and never want to leave. For starters, I have lots of family and friends here. But I also found out a long time ago while traveling that I need to have mountains nearby to make me feel grounded. When I look out for hundreds of miles and can’t see peaks, it’s disconcerting. There’s just something about being able to gaze upon the Rockies everyday that helps me know I’m home.
2. . Tell us about something that has just/recently happened in your life that you would like to share?
Hmmm…that’s tough. Well, I teach at a community college, and my boss resigned recently. I’m having a hard time without him and seriously contemplating my future there. Do I want to stay? Do I want to go? There have been some huge changes on campus over the past year, and I know the new folks have no idea my contributions to the school nor my struggles with some of administration. I love the students, but there’s so much bureaucracy anymore, I spend more time completing paperwork than I do helping students write. So…I’m at a fork in the road, so to speak. Fortunately, I always have writing…and a second job!
3.. If you had to sum up bullet in 30 or less words, what would you say?
Girl falls hopelessly in love with guy but discovers he’s toxic. Joins his band, has the time of her life. After a long, difficult journey, finally gets her HEA.
4. If you gave Valerie and ethan an opportunity to speak for themselves, what would they say?
Valerie would say, “I realize there are a lot of critics out there who don’t understand why I kept going back to Ethan. First off, I was young. I have learned from my mistakes, but it was a struggle to get there. And you’ve never met Ethan. There’s just something about him, and if you haven’t met him, you can’t understand. I will always love him, no matter what happens in our lives.”
Ethan would say, “How can you hate me if you don’t even know me? It’s okay for me to hate myself, and it’s okay for Val, Brad, Jet, or whoever else to hate me because they know me. But to just judge me without even asking me any questions…” (Shakes his head.) “Guess it’s easy to judge from where you’re sitting.”
5. If your book was made into a TV series or Movie, what actors would you like to see playing your characters? Please send me pics lol!!!
That’s tough! A couple of fans have suggested Jared Leto for Ethan, and I think he could pull it off. One of my friends found a model who has exactly the look I had in mind when writing Ethan. I have no idea who the guy is and there was no credit attached to the image, but he has Ethan’s full lips and looks like he has a tormented soul. That’s Ethan—just a beautiful guy that you want to try to help.
Jet—there is only one person who could play this guy and he’s not an actor. In fact, he’s retired and no longer in the public eye. My characters are usually just conjured up in my mind, as Jet was initially, but early on, I began picturing him as a certain someone: Clint Norris, former bassist for As I Lay Dying. If you want to know what Jet looks like, look for pictures of Norris when the band made their Shadows are Security album. That’s Jet, and I don’t know that any actor could look right for me.
Brad…he’s tough too, because of the character I see in my head. The book cover is Brad! Now I have to find an actor who looks like that. Actually, a reviewer on Goodreads suggested Pete Wentz. If he wouldn’t mind growing his hair long, I think he could maybe do it. Yeah…I know he’s not an actor either. He just comes close to having the right look.
Update (don’t know if you want to include what’s already here)—decided Brad could be played by Matt Tuck of Bullet for My Valentine (before he cut his hair). He’s not an actor, but hey! I write about rock stars. I can’t help myself!
Valerie…wow. That’s hard too!!! Selena Gomez could maybe pull it off.
(I do not own the rights to the pictures I’ve attached, but enjoy!!!)
6.. List 3 books you just recently read and would recommend to readers?
Whew…I read a lot of textbooks (for the job) and nonfiction. I don’t know if my readers would be interested in those, but who knows? I haven’t read any fiction for a while, but I’ve done some re-reading (and I read a lot of fiction last year). So, I guess, most recently…
Fifty Shades of Grey—who hasn’t read that one, right? I had to find out what the hype was all about. It was an enjoyable read. She had my attention throughout the novel.
Fight Club—Chuck Palahniuk is a god. That is all.
The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable, Nassim Nicholas Taleb. I love stuff that makes me think hard, no matter how esoteric it is.
7. What is Your Favorite Wine?
*blushing* I don’t drink a lot of wine—I tend to drink much harder stuff. I have a friend who’s a wine connoisseur and I’ll drink whatever he offers at the time. I’m open to recommendations!
8. Is there an Author that you would really like to meet in person?
Toni Morrison. I have her so high upon a pedestal, it’s not even funny. She is truly an artist with words.
9.. What authors have inspired your work?
John Grisham—the man writes books that I simply cannot put down to save my life. I just hope the zombie apocalypse doesn’t start when I’m in the middle of one of his novels.
Stephen King—one of the greats of our time, he’s always working on the next story. I was inspired and motivated by his book On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft. He’s rarely given the credit he deserves. Well, maybe nowadays.
Toni Morrison—again, a poet, a divine storyteller, and I love how she weaves history and real life into her fiction. She blows my mind.
I know there are more, but I’m drawing a blank at the moment. Others, books I read as a teenager (when I was beginning to write) are folks like V.C. Andrews, Victoria Holt, Willo Davis Roberts, authors whose work would grab me by the imagination, wring me about, and not let me go until I’d finished the book.
10. EBook, Paperback or Hardcover?
Paperback…although I do love ebooks. They’ve grown on me a lot, but I still love the feel of a book in my hands…one that doesn’t mind being manhandled a bit. Hardbacks beg to be treated nicely, and I need a book that can withstand the pressure of having me as a reader.
11. Are you currently working on any upcoming projects?
Always. There’s always writing that needs to be done! I’m getting started on Seal All Exits, which is the third book in my Tangled Web series.
Thanks!!!

Book Review
This is my first book by Mrs. Jamison and wow what a book to start with. I have to honestly say when I read the blurb, I was thinking ok this is another rock star love story, been there done that. Oh boy was I so wrong. I started this book late one night and couldn't put it down until about two am. This book was a Rock star love story yes but so much more. It had a love square/FOURSOME. You guys know how I feel about a love triangle, but a square/foursome, pure utter hotness.
This is Val's story. I love how her story was told from past and present POV. When were introduced to Val in the book, she is the poster child of a purebred good Christian girl (virgin). Well off to college she goes to try to find herself. While finding herself she also finds a love for hot metal rockstars. Who knew a chance encounter of sitting next to the hottest guy you've ever seen in history class could change your life's course forever. Val's character, oh boy.... I can't lie there were certain moment in this book I want to slap some sense into her, but in the end I had so much respect for her. I've alway been told the lengths a mom will go to to protect there children is beyond belief. Her character in this book grew/matured as the story played out.
Ethan, oh Ethan. Where do I even begin. Ethan is the drug addict, sex addict, cheating, Val's hubby and baby daddy. Yes I said baby daddy because He was a sperm donor no more. I seriously had a hate/my heartbreaking relationship with Ethan in this book. Some of the situations he put himself in to jeopardize his relationship with Val were mind bogging. I mean for example ,really you slip your girlfriend drugs and want her to have a threesome (smh). Oh please believe me more of these crazy actions took place. BUT I will say despite his infuriating choices, my heart really broke for him. Ethan was so broken I don't think he even knew how to love.
“Val, you and me…we come from different worlds. I’d bet you never had to wonder if you were gonna get breakfast after not having dinner the “night before or how the hell you were gonna hide the big bruise on your arm so your teachers wouldn’t see it. You didn’t have to dread the fuck out of coming home one night ‘cause you got another D in class…and the very person who made sure you couldn’t study the week before was the reason you got the goddamned D in the first place." --Ethan
“And I’ll bet you never had to hear that the only reason why they ever got married in the first place was ‘cause the stupid cunt let herself get pregnant. And so that makes you the most worthless little stubborn sperm alive."-Ethan
Yes as I said before when he said things like this my heart broke. I can honestly say that I had HOPE for a moment that Ethan would see the Error of his ways with the birth of his son, but that hope was quickly shattered.
The other two men in this square/foursome I absolutely loved. They each gave Val a piece of them that helped her to see how special a women was suppose to be treated by a man. There love/affection toward her helped guide her to be the woman she became by the end of the book. Were they perfect? No Were they flawed? Yes ,,,,,,,,,BUT despite that Brad and Clay were GOOD MEN who my goodness knew there way around the bedroom. They knew Ethan had val's heart, but despite that they always had her back. Val's chemistry with these men was pure utter HOTTNESS!
I loved this book. My favorite was the ending. I got to witness a woman who was put through hell and back become stronger based on her life's experiences. Love always brought Val back to Ethan, but her love for the life they created together gave her strength to FIGHT ( fist pumping moment). The story had a happy ending and left me with warm fuzzies ( nope not giving it away). However, I was left wanting more after this story ended.
For all my rock star love story fans, READ this book. It is not your typical rockstar love story, its so much more. You won't regret it!
Great job Mrs. Jamison!

Ravenous by Aubrey Brown BOOK REVIEW
Good reads Description
Emma Westlake is engaged to a Duke, whom she does not want to marry. There are rumors circulating through the ton that the Duke is responsible for his wife's death.
Feeling as if her life is in danger, Emma must flee to a castle near the sea to be a governess to two adoptive children. She is employed by a man who is eccentric. There are no mirrors in the home, and he is never about during daylight.
Gabriel Saxon-Worthington has no idea who this mystery woman is, save her name, Mercy, and the sudden impulse to sink his fangs into her.
They are both seduced by each other's brand of secrecy and engage in an affair that could lead to a deadly end. Gabriel is a vampire with a lust for Mercy's blood, but will they be able to find eternity together before the Duke discovers her, or will he remain Ravenous?!
***************************************************************************************************************************
When I was asked by Mrs. Brown to read her book, I took one look at the cover and was sold. Ya it screamed SEXY! This was actually my first historical paranormal erotic romance. So thank you Mrs. Brown for the smile this book left on my face. I have been on a werewolf kick lately, but ummm not anymore. The newest addition to my vampire list is Gabriel. The sexual dominance of this man, my goodness ( LOTS of fanning self moments).
This is Emma and Gabriel's story. Emma is the daughter of a greedy Barron. Since the death of her brother her fathers greed has gotten him in a sticky situation. His only option is to marry Emma off to a mean, cruel, and snake of a man, the Duke. The dislike i had toward Emma's father was well deserved to say the least. I mean seriously you know the type of man the duke is,if he even scares you why would you hand your innocent daughter over to him? Well leaving Emma with no choice ,she runs away with the help of her servant.
Emma has taken a job as a governess for a Earl (Gabriel) who has a very mysterious reputation. He's only seen at night and he only drinks never eats..... umm this should raise some questions. Despite her gut telling her something was off with this whole job situation, she ignored it on more than one occasion. The chemistry between Gabriel and Emma was in your face hot and sexy. Gabriel is a vampire and when I say this man is swoon worthy to the tenth degree both in and out the bedroom, please believe me. Gabriel hasn't been able to feel for anyone in a very long time, that is until Emma shows up. Gabriel in the end shows his love for Emma knows NO limits. He fights to save her life and in a way his own (sigh).
This book is about differences, family, love, healing and passion. One thing I loved about this book was it was in your face BLUNT. There was know guessing this is what's going on. The sex scenes we're amazing. The relationship that Emma and Gabriel built was great. My favorite was the ending of this book, HAPPINESS! Gabriel/Emma both had there own issues/demons. Despite the obstacles /differences between them they found a way to heal each other (sigh).
This was a quick read for me. This book had it all great drama and even better sex scenes. After I finished it, I was left wanting more. Great job Mrs. Brown. I can't wait to read book #2.

Broken by Christa Cervone BOOK REVIEW
Amazon Description
According to Webster’s Dictionary the definition of the word Broken is violently separated into parts. SHATTERED.
Yup, that pretty much sums me up. How do I handle things? I find my answers at the bottom of a bottle of Tequila and sleep with random men.
How did I get this way? Well, four years ago I made a decision that cost me the love of my life. I can't undo what I did to drive Garrett out of my life. I haven't seen or heard from him in four long years. But he still haunts me in my dreams or should I call them nightmares at this point? No matter how much booze I drink and how many men I sleep with, nothing fills the void. I feel like I am existing but I’m not really living.
I’m trying to get my life back on track. Well that was until. . . . Garrett walked back into my life. His reappearance threw me into another tailspin.
How do I put the pieces of our broken hearts back together? All before he walks out of my life again... this time for good. Or am I simply destined to just be Broken?
***************************************************************************************************************************
"I cannot change the decisions that I have made in the past, but I can learn from them and make the most of the life that I am living now."-Leila
This quote ended the book but i thought it was perfect to start my review with because it rings so TRUE! There have been a few books that I've read this year that have stuck with me weeks after I read them and this is one. When asked to describe this book words like beautiful, deep, haunting, raw and real come to mind. This is a story of how the bond of love is broken by a CHOICE. Mrs. Cervone shows us in this book the way a life can spiral based on the choices we make in life, and how that choice can effect everyone around us. This book dealt with the powerful topic of ABORTION. When I say my emotions were all over the place with this one, I really mean it. There were times I laughed, I cried and other moments I couldn't do anything but just sit on my couch from shock!
This is Lelia and Garrett's love story. The beginning of this rekindled romance takes place at a wedding Leila is photographing that Garrett is at. From the start of this reunion the reader could sense the sexual tension, heart break, and things unspoken between these two( wow factor and heart breaking from the beginning). Lelia's character in the beginning is one that is an out of control woman who uses sex with random men and lots of alcohol as a coping mechanism. But what does she have to cope for you ask? Ya I asked myself this as well for a good part of the book. I have to say the mystery behind Lelia /Garrett's issues Mrs. Cervone kept the reader on their toes until just the right moment ( good job). It's been four years since Leila and Garrett split, and one meeting resurfaces so many emotions in both of them. I loved Leila's character. There were moments I was screaming girl what are you thinking, but other times I remembered you can't help a person until they are ready to help themselves. The Growth of Leila's character throughout this story was amazing. As I read I felt proud of her as if she was related to me,lol.
Garrett oh Garrett....my goodness.... I honestly in the beginning didn't know if I would love him or hate him. However, as this book continued and more things about his life over the last four years were revealed I fell in LOVE with him. Garrett is just as broken as Leila, his coping mechanism was the tattoo needle. Garrett is a military man. After the break up he ran right into the arms of the military. While at war he was injured and lost a leg. I'm telling you guys the more I read about Garrett the more I fell head over heels. This was a man that didn't blame anyone else for his choices and mistakes. He owned them and was the ROCK for him/Leila's rebuilding a relationship..... Sigh...Garrett's character/story was similar to real life marine Alex Minsky, who trust me if you need a visual see his picture below ( good lawd this man is fine)!!
This story flowed so well. Mrs. Cervone did a great job of meshing the present with just enough of the past. The secondary characters in this book I loved. Leila's BFF you couldn't have asked for a better one. As this book continued to play out and Lelia/Garrett attempted to put the pieces of them together, sometimes my heart broke and others moments my heart swelled. It was a rocky road, but they never ran from the TRUTH, they OWNED it. This love story was so RAW. We always hear or read in the news of issues relating to pro choice etc.. Mrs. Cervone touched on a sensitive topic that has plagued the medical world and political world for sometime. She gave the reader a story that they can relate to. Maybe you've been the one facing the choice? Maybe you've been the person caught in the crossfire of the choice? Or maybe you are the family member/friend that has to see the consequences of that choice?
I'll end this review with something my mother told me a long time ago. The choices you make in life are yours, own them because they are yours. Don't judge a man by his choices because you don't know that mans life, haven't seen through his eyes and walked in his shoes! Forty years ago my mother was face with a choice at the age of 19. The choice she made was what was BEST FOR her and ONLY her. She gave the world Victor Taylor III, the worlds greatest big brother!
Great job Mrs. Cervone! You have earned the title of fine wine for this one!

Amazon Description
If there’s one thing Julia Wilson has learned in life, it’s that you can’t push your own dreams to the background for anyone. Newly divorced, Julia returns to the hometown she once swore would never see her again. Her plan is simple; enjoy the cheap rent her friend is offering and stay just long enough to develop a plan to make her own dreams come true.
It doesn't take long before Julia realizes she’s made a big mistake.
Micah Anderson came closer to breaking Julia than anyone else ever had. After promising her forever, he broke her heart the week before she left for college. Now, Julia’s back in town and he’s going to have to tell her the truth about why he left her. It’s not possible to hide a twelve year old child when you live in a town of 5,000 people.
Is following her dreams worth it if it means giving up on a second chance with her first love? Is trying to make a relationship work worth it if his past becomes a threat to her safety?

Book Review
Next time I say I'm going to start a HB Heinzer book before bed after a long day, I will have to think twice. I ended up finishing the whole book. Nope wasn't a happy camper when the alarm went off , but I had to keep reading I needed to know what happened next.
Let me just say I love a book with lies and secrets it makes the romance part so much more juicer! Well this book is no exception, I definitely got my BIG SECRET and LIES! This is Julia and Micah's love story. In the beginning of this book were introduced to Julia's character who is recently divorced and trying to find herself. Unfournately, she had to make a pit stop in her old hometown of brooklyn ( nope not ny) to regroup. Well little does she know her high school sweetheart/ex best friend is still In town, and he needs to make things right between them. The bitterness Julia had towards Micah in the beginning almost made me at times feel sorry for him. I said almost for a reason...I have no sympathy for CHEATERS.
Micah is a single father who for over the last ten years has been miserable in his love life. The reason for this is because of a decision/choice he made years ago to lie/break up with Julia before she left for college. Realizing most people in life don't get a second chance on true love, Micah is determined to to make things right with Julia. Can he still have his happily ever after? There's only one problem, once Julia hears the TRUTH will she be able to still love him and his son?
As Micah/Julia's love story continues to play out, we see Micah may actually be in for the fight of his life. Throw a psycho drug addict ex wife/baby mama , more secrets, and lies/half truths to the equation........umm yes now you see why I didn't go to sleep until I finished this one ( page turner, lol) . I loved Julie/Miach's characters in this book. The growth/life's lessons each of them had endured over the last ten years broke my heart at moments, and had me cheering at other times. I absolutely loved how Julia never gave up on finding herself, and how Micah in the end was understanding..... But don't get me wrong he still fought for his woman (sigh).
I loved the secondary characters in this book, even the psycho ex wife/baby mama. My absolute favorite is caleb, Miach's son. This kid my heart broke for many times in this book. The only form of love from a parent he has ever known was from his father until Julia walk in his life, and shows him how a mother is suppose to love/care for her child( sigh).
I loved this story. This is one of healing, forgiveness and new beginnings! This was my first book by Mrs. Heinzer and it won't be my last. Great job Mrs. Heinzer on the start to a wonderful series.

Always There by Carol Eastman BOOK REVIEW
Amazon Description
For readers who loved The Five People You Meet in Heaven, For One More Day, or The Shack.
“People walked up the front steps of the funeral home, preparing themselves to see the grieving orphaned children of the woman who passed, but what did they find instead? The youngest orphaned child was snacking on a Quarter Pounder with cheese, drinking a medium Diet Coke, and laughing in a chair with her friends.”
In this fresh, poignant novel, Always There, Shelby Lynn LeeMaster grapples with her recent “orphaned” life and how to let down her guard to fully experience true love, allowing it in to her heart without fear. The mother, Betheny LeeMaster, struggles with dying before she could teach and guide her children into adulthood. The daughter cannot break from her own fears, while the mother cannot forgive herself for leaving her children too soon. The different narrators, the mother in Heaven and the daughter on Earth, tell their stories in alternating chapters. Can the two women reconcile their fears and remorse being worlds and lifetimes apart?
Eastman’s honesty explores the tragic ending to a mother-daughter relationship, revealing the pain a motherless daughter experiences. The two vantage points allow the reader to find a connection with the mother and/or the daughter, personalizing the loss that a dying mother and grieving daughter often face. The novel portrays the truth behind the death of a loved one, while glorifying the mystery of Heaven, proving that love does not die when a person does. The channels of love are still open, going in both directions. Love goes on when life does not. The novel bridges the tragic with the comedic, giving audiences a lighter, more enjoyable, sentimental read. You will laugh while you cry, and cry while you laugh, but in the end, you’ll hug your loved ones, holding on for dear life.

Book Review
After finishing this book I had to just sit and absorb what I just read. One of the reasons I love reading so much is because it allows the readers imagination to run wild. What Mrs. Eastman did with this book was give everyone who ever lost someone a special piece of hope. We all have wondered what the afterlife holds for our loved ones, is it one big party, are they happy, do they watch over us etc. With this book Mrs. Eastman gives us a possibility of what may occur. I have always been told the imagination is a powerful thing and this book is proof of just that!
This is a story of an old school Italian family told from two points of view, the dead and the living. The main characters in this one just happen to be the babies of the family and mother/daughter. From the standpoint of earth we get to follow shelby lynn's life. Shelby lynn is a high school English teacher running away/ denying herself the ability to fall in LOVE. Shelby has lost all of her aunts and mother to cancer. Will she be next? One day she finds a lump and her ability to shut down/shut people out becomes worse. Although benign, she decides to go this course alone and dump the LOVE of her life, Chance. Lets talk about chance for a minute, hot single cowboy dad with a bad a** pick up truck ( hey I'm a country girl, I love my pick up trucks). Chance had the patience of a saint in this book. The more Shelby lynn pushed him away, the more he fought for her (sigh). There love story come down to some of my favorite lyrics.. Anyone remember this one...
They read you cinderella
You hoped it would come true
That one day your prince charming would come rescue you
You like romantic movies
And you never will forget
The way it felt when romeo kissed juliette
And all this time that youve been waiting
You dont have to wait no more
I can love you like that
I would make you my world
Move heaven and earth if you were my girl
I would give you my heart
Be all that you need
Show you youre everything thats precious to me
If you give me a chance, I can love you like that
I never make a promise
I dont intend to keep
So when I say forever
Forevers what I mean
Ok ok I'm going to stop here because I'm having flash backs. But for those of you who want to take it back I've posted a link for your listening pleasure, lol.

It's safe to say now that chance is swoon worthy if you haven't come to that conclusion already, sigh.
Now lets talk about the heaven/ afterlife part of the book. This part is told from Beth's POV. She is the baby of her family and Shelby Lynn's mom. Let's talk about Beth's piece of heaven for a minute. Imagine crossing over wearing an outfit that symbolizes the happiest moment in your life and being welcomed with open arms to family members that went on before you. Well Beth's worst fears are re surfacing when her last sister Lila dies and now her children are left alone. Beth struggles with guilt of leaving them before she was able to completely prepare them for LIFE. As Lila tells beth the good/bad that has occurred over the years with her children, my heart swelled and broke all at the same time. After Lila's story, it was safe to say the the living and the dead were worried about Shelby lynn just the same. Well to add fuel to the fire, as if Shelby lynn wasn't already having issues, Lila wrote a letter ten years ago blaming Shelby lynn for her mother's death. Yes I'm not kidding she really wrote it and yes Shelby found it.....yup my wth wow moment! Operation mom kick a** return to earth /save my baby girl from herself is a go!
I LOVED this book. The supporting characters were LOL funny and I loved them all. This book is powerful and beautifully written. As I said before this read is one that gives readers who have lost a loved one a piece of hope. The imagination is a powerful thing and the way Mrs. Eastman used her's to bring together two worlds was BRILLIANT! I can seriously talk about this book all day but for the sake of not giving away anything I'm going to stop here!

Wait for You by J. Lynn Book Review
Amazon Description
Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago--an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe--please God--make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn't need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she's building for herself.
Some things are worth experiencing...
Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that's just so... so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.
Some things should never be kept quiet...
But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she's has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?
And some things are worth fighting for...

Book Review
This book gets 5 stars from me!!
This book kept me intrigued from beginning to end... It captures the story of a young college girl ( Avery) who 5 years ago had something happen to her at a party that changes her life.
As she sets out on her journey thousands of miles from her past, she is hoping for a new start, to just blend in, and make friends who know nothing about her past.
But of course enters a hot, bad boy (cam) , who is drawn to Avery and is relentless in wanting to get to know her, he has the charm, charisma, and a dimple that seems to drive Avery crazy with want and need she never thought she would have again. When Avery starts to get threatening emails she is forced to face her past that she wanted to keep in the past. I loved how cam was there to support her and help her and help her have one less "scar".
Cheers,
Erin

The Space Between by Victoria Smith Book Review
Amazon Description
When Drake started the night at his father’s campaign fundraiser, he never imagined he’d end it being conned into buying drugs on the West Side. Losing high-stakes poker has its consequences, but he’d repeatedly face them just to hear Lacey Douglas sing. Drake sees Lacey light up the stage, and he has to have her. But his intentions for being on her side of town turn out to be the reason he can’t.
Chicago native Lacey has dreams of the opera, but life has its obstacles. Lacey has come to know her hardships as part of living in the real world and accepts them fully. When Lacey meets the intense and invigorating Drake, a fire is lit inside her, unleashing those dreams again.
Two paths that should have never crossed prove to create the exact pairing the other needs. But when their worlds take time to catch up, everything they have is tested. Finding the space between the two sides that challenge them will be hard, but it’s the only place that will keep them together.

Book Review
As I was browsing amazon one day this FREE book caught my attention. Girl from the wrong side of town falls for rich politicians son. This is my first book by Mrs. Smith, and I have to say I enjoyed it.
This is a story of two young people lost trying to find there way in life with the circumstances they have been dealt. First you have Lacey a stage hand who aspires one day to be an international opera singer. At her young age she has the task of caring for her mother who is battling cancer. Despite her surroundings, (plus having a BFF that's a drug dealer) she has always walked the straight and narrow. Well one night she meets Truman Drake, the country club jaguar driving, politicians son who is easy on the eyes ( yummy). Sparks fly between them until Lacey finds out he's there to purchase drugs. Ok this part in the book had me not feeling that great toward Lacey. I mean Seriously your going to be a RAT and call the cops (smh).
Well thinking she's seen the last of him, she reports to her new job as a NANNY to find Drake staring back at her. Oh ya let the games begin. Ready to bring her down/ get her fired he has a change of heart when he finds out the real reason for her taking the job. From this point on the the chemistry between Lacey and drake is hot and intense. I mean throw some nipple rings in the mix and hot steamy/ passionate scenes.... Yup def some fanning yourself moments.
There relationship was a constant struggle because they were from two different worlds. The supporting characters in this book I actually loved. My favorite was Adele, drakes little sister. The reader gets to see her battle with peer pressure and in the end rise to the occasion. Drake/Lacey's love story was one of secrets/ misunderstandings and RACISM. Some of the obstacles in their relationship left me heartbroken for them both. The ending of this book was my favorite. When is seems that the world is against you loving someone what do you choose? Do you choose the life you have always known?.....OR...... Do you sacrifice everything for LOVE?
I'll end this review with one of my favorite quotes:
" And I refuse to let my father make you feel any shred of what I felt growing up. As long as you're at my house and In my world, I'm going to protect you. I'm not going to let anyone hurt you. Not ever, Lacey."-- Drake
I liked this book. The beginning/ ending drew me In but the middle didn't hold my attention as much. Good job Mrs. Smith.

Smith.

Excerpt:
“You’re so beautiful, girl. Just looking at you drives me wild.”
That new, demonic half of his voice had to be the sexiest thing she had ever heard.
His words were even more so.
Dyletri’s expression made her arch into him, made her want to believe him. His thumb caressed her lips, and before Ismini realized it, she was once again moving on instinct. She opened her mouth and tilted her head, sucking the digit right in. A shock of power shot into her mouth, almost as if she’d put her tongue into an electrical socket.
Ismini loved every bit of it. She sighed around his thumb, sucking it deeper.
Dyletri moaned, baring his teeth. She bit down on his flesh, her stare locked on his large canines.
She had no right to his blood, but Ismini wanted it inside her. That should have scared her. In reality, Ismini was too far gone for that shit. Fear had no place inside her. Only need and hunger.
And insanity.
Because that’s what he brought out in her.
His thumb slipped out of her mouth, and she pouted, a hungry mewl leaving her. Dyletri cupped her face, lifting her head and lowering himself onto her.
His lips stopped a mere breath away from hers, his exhalations leaking in between her lips and sliding over her tongue. Ismini froze, realizing what he intended. And knowing damned well that she had no experience when it came to kissing.
Dyletri sensed her hesitation, and he stopped, as well. Every inch of that big, hard body was touching her. He was breathing hard, and his brow furrowed as he stared at her. She could see that he was confused, that he was wondering why she’d stopped.
In that moment she wanted to kick herself for being such an idiot. She was afraid that what she was about to say would turn him off.
“I—I’ve never . . . I don’t know how,” she whispered, dropping her gaze to his lips. She couldn’t stand to see the reality seep back into his face.
But Dyletri surprised her. As he lowered his head, he held hers still, and he placed a gentle but intensity-filled kiss to her cheek. A spark of energy pulsed through every cell of her skin.
“I know,” he murmured, placing another kiss closer to her mouth. And another. And yet another. “I’m dying to be the first one to show you . . . dying to be the first one to taste you. To take you.”
He thrust against her as he spoke, licking the corner of her lips when he talked about tasting her.
Her mouth fell open, and she moaned. “Dyletri.” His lips landed on hers, and a groan escaped him, the sound hitting her straight on. She wasn’t sure who opened first, but it was definitely she who sucked in his bottom lip, pulling it between her teeth. With heavy-lidded eyes, she watched his lip curl. Another growl left him, and his incisors grew even longer.
Then his fingers on her jaw became almost brutal, forcing her open, holding her still even though all she wanted to do was attack him. The urge grew when his tongue slid in, moving against hers. It was hotter than any other part of him. Sinuous and sinful in every way.
All lingering uncertainty flew right out the window. Their breaths and moans mixed as her tongue connected with his.
Amazing. He was fucking amazing, and the way his tongue tasted was nothing short of sexual. She’d never had sex, of course, but her body knew that was what he tasted like. Ismini swirled her tongue around his, opening her mouth further for him and tilting her head.
Dyletri thrust against her, over and over, his dick pressed right where she needed it. His tongue mimicked the movement of his hips, making her tighten her legs around him and pull him close.
Every moan out of his mouth was like a bolt straight between her legs. Every rock of his hips was answered by one of her own. Her hands traced every muscle on his back, fondled every ridge.
So much power.
She could feel him holding back. She knew it was probably because she was human and he had the power to break her and yet, she wanted him to. She needed him to. She was dying for him to just slam into her with everything he had until there was nothing left of her.
Dyletri pulled his head back, one elongated tooth stinging Ismini’s lower lip as he gave her a gentle bite. She cried out, the thought of him tasting her blood sending her into a frenzy.
It was an instant deluge. She began thrusting against him, her nails digging into unyielding flesh. Her moans escalated. Her orgasm was right there and already washing over her.
Until he pulled away. Again.
A growl rumbled behind her words, warping her voice. “Dyletri.” He laughed darkly, looking way too amused for her liking. “I swear to fucking God—”
He grabbed on to the waistband of her pants, his fingers harsh. “I am your fucking god!” Oh . . . oh my . . . “You’re not coming until I let you to, got it?”

Surrender your love by JC Reed BOOK REVIEW
Excerpt:
A penetrating ringing noise woke me up too soon. I groaned and covered my ears with my pillow, silently begging whoever was making such ungodly noise to shut it. It took me a moment to realize it was my alarm clock. I rolled on my side and knocked it over in the process. A male voice let out an amused snort. I jumped up, instantly awake. My gaze settled on the guy on the left side of my bed and I felt the telltale heat of a major blush rushing to my face. He was propped up on one elbow, one arm tucked beneath his head, his chiseled chest with dark hair trailing down his flat abdomen on full display. The sheet covering his modesty left nothing to the imagination. In fact, it only managed to stir an unwelcome pull between my legs. Not only was he strikingly good looking, he was also well endowed. A heady yet dangerous combination in a man. My tongue flicked over my suddenly dry lips as I pried my gaze away from the bulge that was evident beneath the thin sheet.
What was he doing in my bed? And why was he naked?
What do you think, stupid? It doesn’t take a genius to figure it out. Just look at his smug grin.
I peered at his face. In the bright morning light falling through the window he looked younger than last night but just as arrogant. His gorgeous lips curled into the most stunning smile I had ever seen. A panty-dropping smile, as Sylvie would have called it. I paled at the realization. Had I dropped my panties for him?

Book Review
When I was asked by Mrs. Reed to check out her new book and see if I would like to review it: 1. Completely honored 2. Fell in LOVE with the BLURB! When I say thank goodness for kindle app on iPhone, THANK YOU APPLE GODS! I devoured this book between my morning rounds and surgery cases (yes a long day, sigh)! My co resident (a fellow book worm) asked how would describe this one..... Consequences (Althea Roming) meets fifty shades( EL James)..... Yup that pretty much sums it up for me.
In the beginning were introduced to Brooke Stewart. Brooke is in real estate trying to work her way up to the big time. She also is in a dead end relationship until “tall drank of water" (in my co resident ash’s voice) walks into the gentleman club for Brooke’s meeting. Yup Jett Mayfield likes taking meetings at strip clubs, men geez. Well Jett doesn't introduce himself as Mayfield (ya he left that part out that he's the boss) just as an employee here to take the meeting. Pissed off and irritated brooke leaves without taking the meeting. At this point the sexual attraction between Jett and Brooke is obvious. He has hot alpha male millionaire/dominance oozing out his pores.
Well the next day despite waking up with a Hangover, she finds herself next to a naked Mr. Tall drank of water himself ( up a wth moment for me, smh). After kicking Jett out, Brooke goes to work to find she's been given the job of her dreams but for a different company, Mayfield.
It's time to meet the new boss.....drum roll please..... It's none other than Jett, last name Mayfield . I'm sure you can imagine Brooke's shock. Well new job, new hot boss to work directly with and trip to Italy for 2 weeks of work (ill take her job)! Let the Brooke and Jett show begin! For two weeks we see Brooke /Jett’s relationship grow. They both have their own inner demons (heart breaking), but the trust they place in one another was refreshing. The sexual chemistry between these two in that two week span, my goodness (fanning self moments). While getting to know each other/ working on their current project , Brooke is falling hard for Jett but her gut Is telling her something is off (always go with the GUT GIRL!).
The ending of this Book threw me for a loop (some serious mouth hanging open moments). I mean you give me two weeks of hot sexual chemistry and then I Finally see Brooke’s Gut is Right (again always go with the GUT!). Dang you Jett Mayfield with your secrets and lies!!! My heart broke for Brooke in the end but I was proud of her also for showing strength even when she was heartbroken. Needless to say with this book I’m on the fence with Jett. I still want to love him but hate him as well. When this book ended, I was seriously screaming “But WHY JETT WHY?” I mean I have so many questions …. Are you really trying to Protect her from something and if so what? Was this for self gain? Thank Goodness there is a book 2!
Please Read this BOOK! Great Job Mrs. Reed! I look forward to reading the rest of this series!
*** I was provided an ARC of this book for an honest review.***

Giving it up by Amber Lin Book Review
GOOD READS DESCRIPTION:
Allie prowls the club for a man who will use her hard and then ditch her. Hey, it's not rape if she wants it. Instead she finds Colin, who looks tough but treats her tenderly, despite her protests.
He tempts her, but kindness and a few mindblowing orgasms aren't enough to put her back together again. Allie has no hope for a real relationship. Two years ago her best friend betrayed her in the worst possible way – she’d be stupid to trust a man again. Besides, she has her daughter to think of, the only good thing to have come from that dark night.
But when her rapist returns, threatening her sanity and custody of her daughter, Allie turns to Colin. Under his protection and patient touch, Allie begins to heal and learns to hope. Colin’s no saint, though, and his criminal past draws danger of its own. Allie must fight to protect her child and the man she loves, hoping her newfound power will be enough to save them all.

BOOK REVIEW
This was my first read by Mrs. Lin. So thank you to my followers who suggested this one. I love books with deeper meanings/topics. This first book of the series deals with the topic of RAPE. Yes there are certain moments in this book that are not for the faint if heart!
This is Allie's story. Allie is a rape victim who is living her life trying to forget but she has a BLESSED constant reminder of her circumstances, Bailey( her daughter). Allie's way of forgetting is to have meaningless ,rough ,kinky sex.... Ya not healthy. Well one night while on the prowl she meets Mr. Dangerous himself, Colin. While the sex is mind blowing and a relationship starts to brew ,Allie soon discovers that there's more to Colin than just the restaurant business. How about the fact he's apart of one of the biggest organized crime families? At this point I think Colin became sexier to me..... Hey I have a thing for hot mafia guys, just saying lol ( don't judge!).
Well as the book continues we see Colin is in many ways just as damaged as Allie. Ok I have to admit there were times in this book that there relationship had me saying " seriously". The trust issues these two had was crazy and heart breaking (damaged!). The supporting characters in this book I loved. My absolute favorite is Phillip! Who wouldn't be in love with the hot leader of a organized crime group who likes hot kinky sex? Don't get me wrong he had his Douche bag moments but in the end.....oh heart wrenching moment . My second favorite had to be Shelly. She is the true definition of a best friend. Yes her resume would read prostitute but the love she showed Allie was amazing! I mean how many friends you know ,profession or not ,would have crazy/kinky sex with the most dangerous man in the city to get you the money for a lawyer? Yup True friend! Mrs. Lin I need more of Phillip and Shelly ( thank goodness for book 2).
The ending of this book was bananas. The secrets, mood swings, buildings blowing up, undercover cops, new found friendships, and relationships was a crazy ride. It was great to see Allie's character grow and begin to deal with the terms of her rape. I was always told a mama will do anything to protect her cub, well when your rapist/best friend comes back around trying to reclaim what he lost, yeah time to grow up /address the situation. Ya not going to lie, some of her choices were very interesting ( yup a few smh moments). I really liked this book. However, I wish I would have gotten to see a little more into Colin's past. Great start to a series.
Good job Mrs. Lin! Can't wait to read book 2!

Book Review
“A Story about a girl and boy who were so lost they couldn’t see what was right in front of them. It was our deal.”-- Bailey
I've never started a book review with a quote but this one just summed up everything so well. This was my first Shey Stahl book, and I loved every road tripping/sun setting moment of it. This book had a little of everything lies, deceit, forgiveness, friendship, and LOVE!
This is Bailey and Dylan's story. Think little Mrs. Perfect meets tattooed bad boy/musician/neighbor.....now throw in an awesome road trip and hot steamy chemistry....yup sigh! Bailey has always had to be perfect, well at 18 on graduation day (during her speech) little Mrs. Perfect tells her perfect world to FU** off (ummm this was a mouth hanging open moment for me). While in the mist of still having a freak out moment from her melt down, she runs right into the arms/GTO of the boy next door/ex BFF/local bad boy, Dylan.
Now Dylan is the FU ** off, I don't care what people think, tattooed, musician (yes his musical talents in this book, wow) and BADBOY. However, he wasn't always this way. Everyone one grieves differently, his way of grief was to withdraw from the people that cared about him most and act out. (My heart broke for him). This caused his relationship with bailey to suffer and they grew apart. His luck changed when the girl next door walked back in his life and GTO again. Was this his second chance?
Let the road trip begin! As this story plays out we see Bailey/Dylan taking chances, living life to the fullest, and LOVING HARD! This is both new territory for them, but the memories/moments they make together are BEAUTIFULLY THEIRS. The chemistry between these two was great (lots of fanning myself moments, sigh) but something was off (yes lies/deceit/secrets).
Their road tripping LOVE story was a beautiful one of self growth and FORGIVENESS. The ending of the book (SMH) rocked me to the CORE. I knew the Dylan something off/hiding something situation was big but GEEZ (heartbreaking...nope not giving it away, LOL). The million dollar question was will Dylan/ Bailey's LOVE SURVIVE?
I loved this book! Needless to say, I devoured it in one sitting. Bailey/Dylan's characters I loved. However, there were moments were her being naïve, and him being stubborn were so frustrating. The secondary characters in this book I pretty much had a hate relationship toward. Both sets of parents were real pieces of work....... Trust me read this book and you will see my point. I remember shaking my head at moments thinking how are these people even allowed to have children, geez!
In this story bailey/Dylan loved hard, fought hard, and forgave hard.....BUT in the end is there LOVE strong enough (sigh..Beautiful)?
“It was our story, played out on the open highway chasing sunsets. It wasn’t an easy story to tell you. It was a story of kisses, lust, passion, youth, mistakes, lies, hiding, stupidity, judging, but most of all, love.”-- Bailey
“Some say a sunset can be too beautiful for words. I’d agree with that. There are a lot of things too beautiful for words for me.To me, it was the earth’s way of saving the best for last.” --Bailey
I’ll just say job well done Mrs. Stahl! The flow of this book was great. It grips the reader right from the beginning and rocks your world in the end! I look forward to reading more of your work.
