Monster in his eyes by JM Darhower

Ignazio Vitale is not a good man.

I suspect it, the first time I see him, sense the air of danger that surrounds the man. He has a way of commanding attention, of taking control, of knowing what I'm thinking before I even do.

It's alarming and alluring. It's dark and deadly. It's everything I've ever wanted but the last thing I truly need. Obsession.

It doesn't take him long to draw me into his web, charming me into his bed and trapping me in his life, a life I know nothing about until it's too late. He has secrets, secrets I can't fathom, secrets that make it so I can't walk away, no matter how much I beg him to let me go. I see it sometimes in his eyes, a darkness that's both terrifying and thrilling. He's a monster, wrapped up in a pretty package, and what I find when I unmask him changes everything.

I want to hate him.

Sometimes, I do.

But it doesn't stop me from loving him, too.
JM Darhower is the author of the New Adult Sempre series (Sempre & Sempre: Redemption), and the paranormal romance novella, Extinguish. She lives in a tiny town in the Carolinas with her family, where she churns out more words than will ever see the light of day. She has a deep passion for politics and human rights, and when she isn’t writing she’s usually ranting about those things. Chronic crimper with a vulgar mouth, she admits to having a Twitter addiction. You can find her there.

He steps toward me, quiet as he speaks. “Do you love me?”
“You know I do.”
“Say it,” he says, his voice dropping lower. “Tell me you love me.”
“I love you.”
He cups my cheek. “Say it again.”
“I love you.”
His hand drifts lower, wrapping around my throat. “Again.”
“I love you.”
He squeezes lightly, not painfully, just enough to make me gasp. “Again.”
My voice is barely a whisper as the words pour out of me. “I love you, Ignazio.”
His expression hardens when I say his name, his eyes darkening. The monster is peeking through, peering at me from behind his mask. He wants to come out. He wants me to play with him.
He says nothing, though, letting go of my neck. His hand drifts lower, down my chest and across my breasts. He gropes them through the fabric before reaching down and grabbing the bottom of my shirt, pulling up on it. I raise my hands in the air, letting him pull it off. He unbuttons my pants, tugging down the zipper, and I step out of them when he pulls them off of me.
Slowly, his eyes scan me then, from the top of my head to the tips of my toes before trailing back up again. He meets my gaze as he takes another step forward, standing right up against me. I can feel the heat emanating off of him, his cologne intoxicating.
It makes me dizzy.
“If you could read my mind…” He pauses, laughing darkly. “You’d be trembling.”

Well mrs. Darhower's new release was added to my beloved mafia favorites this week. I am a huge fan of her sempre series. Oh hell I'm a huge fan of her books in general. She's one of those authors that I wish I had a phone alert when new releases occur. Yes, I'm a jm darhower MAFIA groupie.
This is karissa and naz's story. She is an 18 year old girl who is ready for her life to start. She has been moved around by her mom her whole life and hasn't really known stability. Her mom was running from something/someone that kept me guessing all the way to the end. Karissa's full of life roomie melody was great. I liked her character. She tried hard to bring Karissa out her shell and she succeeded sometimes. The most memorable of these was a clubbing night when she walked right into the arms of mr. Tall dark and bada**. Naz oozes alpha male.  Oh and hot ofcourse. He is twice her age but hey lust knows no age right???
Naz had this whole intimidation,no one messes with me thing going on, but he always had a gentler side with Karissa. I'm a hopeless romantic so I would love to believe that their two bump in encounters where fate, but like I always say go with the gut! My gut was telling me yes he loves her but what am I missing.
Mrs. Darhower kept me on the edge of my seat with this one. Naz and karissa's love story was down right sexy! BUT when secrets come out and darkness threatens to consume all the light/love that surrounds them, you will be left saying, WTH can they survive this fallout? Mrs. Darhower great job. I can't wait to read book 2!

Cheers,
Dr. Books

Dreamcast

The following is a character interview.  It is between the author (ME!!!) and my three main characters:  Jason Straiz, Selene Mendez, and Lucio Cardoso.   Enjoy.

I finish putting the last bowl on the patio table when I hear a tapping noise behind me.  I turn to see what it was as Jason opens the glass patio doors and walks up to greet me with a bear hug, picking me up in the process.    As he sets me back down, he looks over at the table.
Jason: “Are we having company?”
I raise my eyebrows.
Maria: “You know we are.”
Pointing toward a chair, Jason sits down as I find my seat next to him.  He looks relaxed in jeans and a t-shirt.  I noticed he hadn’t shaved and was sporting a bit of face scruff.  I leaned over and rubbed his beard.
M: “What’s the deal with this?”
He laughs.
J: “I’m trying something new.  I take it you’re not a fan?”
M: “Hell no.”
Jason reaches for a beer and hands me a Mountain Dew.
J: “So what’s this interview we have to do?”
Grabbing my notebook and pen, I set them on the table in front of me.
M: “I’m going to ask you some questions so everyone can get to know you better.”
He leans back and stares at me, making me forget why I was there.
M: “OK.  How do you feel about Love Lost and your story being told?”
J: “Well, I don’t think that anyone could have done it as well as you did.”
A blush creeps up my cheeks at the compliment.
J: “I think that it’s kinda cool that someone wants to read about me.”
M: “Do you see yourself as the hero type?”
J: “Oh God no!  I’m just a guy who does my job.  There are plenty of officers out there doing their job and taking down bad guys.   The officers and soldiers that don’t come home, those are the heroes in this world.”
M: “Your biggest accomplishment?”
Jason smiles and I know what he is thinking right away.
M: “No spoilers, Jay.”
J:  “Even if it is my greatest accomplishment?”
M: “Fine, we’ll skip that question.  Describe Selene and what she means to you.”
He looks distant all of a sudden.
J: “She’s my world.  Selene’s the love of my life.”
M: “Can you picture yourself with anyone else?”
Jason leans in, deep in thought.
 M: “Did I stump you?”
J: “No.  I don’t want to be with anyone else except for Selene. I just don’t know what the future brings.  I would like to spend the rest of my life with her.  I guess it depends on what you decide to write for us.”
M: “I guess you’re going to have to wait and see.”
His phone chirps and Jason excuses himself to answer it.  After a few minutes, he hangs up and I see the familiar look on his face.
 M: “Duty calls, huh?”
J: “Story of my life, right?”
Jason hugs me before he leaves, leaving me to wonder on his relationship with Selene and where it will lead.  My phone rings and the caller id shows that it is Lucio.  I almost let it go to voicemail when I realize that I need to interview him.   So reluctantly, I hit the accept button.
 M: “Can I help you?”
Lucio: “Yes, you can, Ms. DeSouza.”
M:  “It’s Mrs actually.  Where are you?”
L:  “I’m outside waiting in the car.  Would you mind taking a drive with me?”
I cringe at the thought of being in the car alone with him.
M:  Whatever. I’ll be right out.
I head outside through side entrance, where a long limo is parked in front of the house.  Lucio is leaning against the extravagant vehicle as I walk toward him.  He is in a designer suit and as much as I hated to admit it, he looks good.  The driver opens the door and I climb inside with Lucio close behind me.  He grabs two glasses and offers me a drink.
M:  “No thank you.  Let’s get down to business, shall we?”
L:  “A woman who knows what she wants.  Not something I am used to.”
 M:  “You’ll get over it, I’m sure.”
Lucio inches closer to me as I open my notebook.  Pulling my hair to the side, he whispers in my ear.
L:  “I can always teach you how to be obedient.”
Turning to face him, I smile.
M:  “So can I.  It’s called shoving a hot curling iron up your-”
L:  “OK.  Truce.  Ask your questions.”
M:  “Why do you feel that Selene belongs to you?”
L:  “I knew I wanted her from the moment I saw her and she felt the same way.  I just need to remind her of that.”
M:  “That sounds like a threat.”
 L:  “It’s not a threat.  It’s a promise.”
I roll my eyes and continue.
M:  “Do you consider yourself a villain or just misunderstood?”
L:  “Definitely a villain.  There is no misunderstanding with me.  I will kill.  I will torture.  I will do what I need to do in order to get what I want.  Good guys are boring.”
M:  “But they usually win at the end.  They also get the girl.”
Lucio’s jaw twitches at my words.  I was provoking him and a part of me wondered what he would do if I continued to push him.
 L:  “Not always, Mrs. DeSouza.”
M:  “We’ll see.  What is your biggest flaw?”
L:  “I have none.  You made me perfect, remember?”
 M:  “Vanity, check.  Any regrets?”
L:  “Not killing a certain detective when I had the chance.”
M:  “I’m sure he feels the same way.”
L:  “So quick to defend your detective.  He is not as perfect as you may think.”
M:  “I never claimed he was perfect, but he has one thing that you don’t.”
 L:  “And that is?”
M:  “Character.  Oh, and Selene’s love.”
Lucio leans in and tries to grab me before rethinking his actions.  He sat back and put on his sunglasses.
L:  “I’m done with this interview.”
He signals for the driver to drive me home.
 M:  “I’m crushed.”
L:  “We could always go back to my place and continue this interview there.”
M:  “Do you have a curling iron?”
He narrows his eyes and the limo comes to a stop.
L:  “This was…delightful.  We should do it again.  Soon.”
M:  “Sure.  Wait for my call.”
I practically fly out of the car before Lucio has a chance to respond.  I shake off the bad vibes and walk back into the backyard.  My guests had arrived and my husband along with his good friend, Kevin are manning the grill.  I start to walk toward them when I hear my name being called.  I look toward the glass doors and Selene is standing there.  A long sundress hugged her curvy figure, leaving me to plan the start yet another diet.  We hug each other and I walk inside to shut out the noise.
M:  “I’m happy you made it.  Did you have a hard time finding parking?”
S:  “I’m used to valet or off street parking, so this was a change.”
M: “So, tell me.  How are you and Jason?”
She laces her hands together and bites her lip.
S:  “We are working through it.”
M:  “I’m glad.  Describe Jason in one word.”
S: “One word?  Perfect.  Loyal.  Sexy.”
M:  “TMI, Selene.”
We both laugh and she watches the kids playing outside.
S:  “He’s a great guy and I’m lucky to have him.”
M: “Describe Lucio.”
S:  “Maniac, Monster, Dire need of a strait jacket.”
M:  “Yes he does.  What is your biggest accomplishment?”
S:  “Spilling coffee on a detective.”
I laugh remembering how they met.
M:  “Any regrets?”
S:  “Not telling Daphne everything.”
M:  “It might not have made a difference, Selene.”
S:  “Maybe it wouldn’t but I’ll guess we’ll never know.”
M:  “What do you think about people asking to read Love Lost?”
S:  “It’s so surreal.  I hope they will enjoy the love story between Jason and I.”
Jason comes in and Selene runs to hug him.  They kiss and I walk back outside to give them their privacy.  As I enjoy the time with my family and friends, I think about Love Lost and the journey that Jason and Selene have to endure.

If you want to know more, pick up your copy of Love Lost.   You didn’t think I would give any spoilers, did ya?

About the Author:

Maria DeSouza is a 32 year old New Jersey native with a love for writing. She has two children, who are her life, and family that makes her want to scream at times, but still loves them. She started her affair with reading and writing at a very young age. She loves where books take her, and always wished for the day when she would meet her very own dream boat. She grew up on Stephen King, Nora Roberts, and anything her library would let her borrow. She would always grab a notebook and start writing about the books she read about because she wanted the story to continue. She never took it seriously until a friend a few years ago told her that she needed to publish her work after she wrote down a short story. The words stuck with her and she was constantly asked, “Did you write more? Are you done?” A back injury put her writing on hold for almost 2 yrs and last year, she found the short story and started reading. Then, she started writing and adding to it. That little dream turned story turned into her debut novel, Love Lost.

The Face in the Mirror by Barbara Stewart Book Review

Loss brings things home. You reflect on what you had, and what you’ve lost.
What if you met the love of your life… Again?
What if he never fell out of love with you?
And you realized that you were still in love with him.
Could you push the past aside…
And focus on the future?
Relive what was good…
And learn from the bad?
What if you found a secret…
That revealed that everything about your family was a lie…
Changed your thoughts on love and commitment…
And turned all that you believe in upside down…
What if a mirror reflected what you loved…
And what you lost?

Barbara Stewart (7/13/1959) was born in Havre de Grace, MD, and grew up in southeastern Pennsylvania, and the central east coast of Florida. She resides in Middleburg, FL with her husband Gene.

Barbara has worked in the electronics industry, and most recently in healthcare. She’s a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, and won the Hope Award for volunteerism in 2009.

She writes love stories that usually evolve from music – a song she hears that paints a picture, and refers to her writing as ‘the sound-track of her life.’ Sprinkled through her stories are humor and sadness based on experiences shared with family and friends.

A reviewer on Amazon recently said, “This isn’t a romance, it’s a love story.” (readingmaven)

“As a new writer. I hope you will continue my journey, travel with me, see what song inspires me next, and I hope that you see more growth with each page you turn.”

She finds great enjoyment in reading – it’s an escape, a journey into new and different places – but her favorite genre is romance. She loves to explore and support other self-published authors.

Her next book is still in dream-phase and will be titled Tate.

You can reach Barbara by email bsswrites@yahoo.com

This was my first book by mrs. Stewart and she gave me a love story of second chances. I honestly was excited to start this one,So many friends of mine have recommended her books and special thanks to you guys for putting her on my radar. On my flight home from chicAgo I dived right into renee and Mitch's second chance romance story.
Renee is a single career woman who is miserable. She meet Mitch when they were teenagers, love at first sight. But then life and family knows best got involved. Renee re takes control of her life after the unexpected passing of her mother. What she thought was a happy life for her family really was filled with secrets and lies. On her road of self discovery and while in mourning, she looks at her life through her mothers eyes. As hard as this journey was for her,she had one constant in her corner, Mitch. It was refreshing to see renee grow in this story. Goodbye timid renee and hello mrs. Independent woman that speaks her mind. I loved the secondary characters in this one, especially her moms BFF midgey. As BFF go, no one could ask for a better one.
Mrs. Stewart gave her readers a sweet second chance romance story that will melt your heart. I loved reading renee and Mitch's story through her moms eyes. We also got to see her moms life from the down right ugly to sweet new beginnings. Good job mrs. Stewart.

Cheers,

ONLY 99 CENTS for a LIMITED TIME!!!

Ok so I had to sleep on it to figure out where to begin with this review. I have to start off by saying there is not one thing I would change in this book! The writing is flawless! I usually have a hard time reading books told from one point of view because the authors usually have the characters describing themselves and it drives me crazy! I hate when they say things like "I am not skinny but curvy in all the right places" or "I know I'm not fat but I have low self esteem". Jade's story is told from her point of view and I you can see inside her head and the way she thinks, which makes her realalistic to me. So many authors struggle to get that right, but when they do I swear it's like magic.

I will warn you though that this is a tear-jerker! The entire last quarter of the book my face was swollen from crying and my nose sore from blowing it so much, but you will not be able to put it down. From page one you will be glued to this book! You know what is going to happen but it still doesn't prepare you for the intensity of emotions you will feel.

From the blurb you know that Jade has drawn the short stick in life, and her story is heart breaking from page one. I wish I could kidnap her from the horrid excuse of a mother she has. Jamie Canosa does a great job showing us inside of her thoughts so you have an accurate notion of how everything affects her, and it's not just her telling you. Then someone from Jade's past comes into her life like a knight in shinning armor! You get to see how she grows and changes and it is beautiful! The person Jade is in the begining and end are so different!

There will be a book 2 BUT there is not a cliffhanger! It ends but the story will continue with Jade after a life-altering event. This is a story for both young and old to read. It will make you look at things you take for granted and will leave you evaluating the things you take for granted in life. If you are 15 or 100, this is a book that will touch your heart and leave an impression. Authors like Jamie Canosa are the reason I love reading so much!

Rating: 5 HUGE stars!!
Cheers!

Wicked ties by AD Justice Blog Tour

What if everything you believed in turned out to be a lie?
What if learning the truth changed everything?

Colton “Bull” Lanier thought he had his life all figured out. His trust was hard earned. He let no one see the man inside. He didn’t believe in love and he didn’t get involved. That is, until she walked into his life.

There’s more to Steele Security’s newest client, Chaise, than what meets the eye. She’s in trouble but she’s also hiding something and keeps her secrets close to the vest. With her life in danger, Bull reluctantly takes on her case to help her find a missing girl and protect her life in the process.

When their attraction flares hot enough to burn them, Bull gives Chaise something very rare – his trust. But as worlds collide, lifelong secrets are revealed that makes Bull question everything he’s ever believed. When Chaise disappears, the men of Steele Security are on the case. But will they get there in time?

Forgiveness. Trust. Love.

Ruthless. Doubt. Coldness.

Will Bull find out what kind of man he really is?

I am happily married to a wonderful man and we celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary this year.

We have two sons in college and we are so proud of them both!

I work full time as a manager but write as a means to escape into another world. I have loved books for as long as I can remember. That was a trait passed on to me by my Daddy. I remember spending many hours in book stores growing up.

I hope you enjoy the stories and will go on these journeys with me!

Thanks for reading!

http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/7277707.A_D_Justice

This is book two in the series and it just gets better and better. The story of Chaise and Bull leaves your heart pounding, panties melted, and eager for you to turn page after page.

Chaise turns to Steele Security in need of help because she is in danger. Bull takes her case but suspects she's not telling the whole truth. I love Chaise's character but it takes awhile to get a feel for her and what she's hiding. She's such a strong person and has taken care of herself at a young age.

I was drawn to Bull's character since book one and was excited to know him more and boy don't you get to know him very well. He grows up without a father therefore he's been hurt and doesn't trust relationships. His family consist of the Steel Security men in which are like his brothers. When he meets Chaise he feels that connection unlike anything before.

You're in for one heck of a ride with this story. So many twist and turns and when you think you've figured another thing happens. Holy smokes and the sex scenes will rock your works! I couldn't get enough if this story. Can't wait for book three!

Cheers,
Holly

Melissa Foster strikes again! She is easily becoming one of my favorite authors! She has 13 books out that all relate to each other, but each one can be read as a standalone. I do reccomend reading them all because you get a glimpse into how the characters from previous books are doing, but you really don't have too. Yes all the books are each about a different couple so they relate, but each story is unique and different from the last. Each keeps you hooked from the begining and attached to the characters.

This book is about Siena Remington and the sizzling fire fighter Cash! He is every girls wet dream!!! Both chatacters are easy to fall in love with, and although they start out rocky, the relationship between them builds strong. There is no perfect story with love, so of course that smoothness doesn't last a a wrench is thrown at them, which leaves you wondering of they will make it.

You will be hooked from the begining and the steam will leave you fanning yourself! Over all great read and I cannot wait to read more from Melissa!
