A Dark Kiss of Rapture by Sylvia Day Book Review

Of all the Fallen, Raze's hungers are some of the darkest and most insatiable. His brazen seductions cost him his wings, leaving him soulless and immortal, the most dangerous of seducers. He has roamed the earth for eons, hunting the rogues of his kind and protecting the humans who provide him with blood and sex. He is content with his life and the transient pleasures that flow through it... until one night and one woman change everything.

Kimberly McAdams is smart, beautiful, and wealthy. She can have any man she wants, but the moment she sets eyes on the lethally stunning Raze she knows he's the man she needs. As one searingly erotic night burns into something deeper and far more vital than either of them expected, an adversary from Raze's past sees a chance for revenge. Twisted by hatred, she will take from Raze what was taken from her—the precious gift of love.

Meet Raze, not exactly your everyday run of the mill guy.  Out for the night; needing; wanting and desiring, in a bar when she sits down next to him.  Who is she, she’s not his type, out of his league and oh yea, he’salready made plans to “do” the bartender.  Conversation with this woman starts up, his mind still reeling.  Confidence spools from her, she’s out to get the same thing he is, he’s perfect she thinks.  Raze learns her name is Kim.  They make arrangements to meet back at his hotel in an hour and Raze instructs Kim to bring her night bag.

How did she get so lucky, she tells her friend that she’s going to get lucky, gives Raze’s information and says that if anything happens that was the last place she was.

She’s surprised how he opens his hotel room, they waste no time.  Everything is perfect, Kim can’t believe it, and honestly, neither canRaze.

They plan to meet up again, this time at her place.  First he has work to do he tells her.  His secret still safe, he hasn’t spilled the beans, or is that Blood? Yes Raze is a vampire, not your usual one though.  He gets to Kim’s place, she flirtatiously lets him know she has a present for him.  How can this be happening he thinks.  He hasn’t felt like this in eons.  Danger is close as a delivery is made, Kim doesn’t get it though.  Off to work again Raze goes.  After he returns he has his bags with him, she doesn’t mind.  Raze tells Kim there are things she needs to know about him, but can’t tell her until he is given permission and he is leaving within the next 48 hours.  A promise is made.  What promise?  Can it be done….

Follow their story as it continues in A Lush Kiss of Surrender.

Cheers Sylvia for a mind riveting story.

Ride by JC Emery Book Review

Death comes in Armani. Salvation comes in leather.

Principessa to the Mancuso crime family, Alexandra knows a thing or two about living outside the bounds of the law. Suffocated by the future her father has laid out for her, she makes a choice she can't take back, changing the entire trajectory of her life.

Thrust into the dark and dangerous world of the Forsaken Motorcycle Club for her own protection, Alex finds herself faced with the last thing she needs right now: the man of her dreams. He’s sex in leather, the devil incarnate, and one hell of a kisser. But he’s also off-limits. Ryan Stone can be her friend, but he’s forbidden to be her lover.

Third-generation Forsaken, Ryan knows nothing other than life on two wheels, and he wouldn’t have it any other way. He enjoys the many privileges that come with the patch, and the only laws he recognizes are the ones set-forth by his club. That is, until who he wants more than anything isn’t allowed on the back of his bike —or in his bed. Balancing his desire for her body, and need to keep her safe, Ryan tries to keep Alex at a distance. Finally having made a choice for herself, she’s done hearing the word “no” and will push boundaries even Ryan himself doesn’t dare cross.

Love is never more tempting than when it’s forbidden.

As a child, JC was fascinated by things that went bump in the night. As they say, some things never change. Now, as an adult, she divides her time between the sexy law men, mythical creatures, and kick-ass heroines that live inside her head and pursuing her bachelor's degree in English. JC is a San Francisco Bay Area native, but has also called both Texas and Louisiana home. These days she rocks her flip flops year round in Northern California and can't imagine a climate more beautiful.

JC writes adult, new adult, and young adult fiction. She dabbles in many different genres including science fiction, horror, chick lit, and murder mysteries, yet she is most enthralled by supernatural stories-- and everything has at least a splash of romance.

First let me start by saying thanks to all the followers and bloggers that put this book on my radar. Man I love twitter and Facebook feeds lol. Mrs. Emery the blurb alone sold me on this one. MOB + MOTORCYCLE CLUB = a happy dr. Books!!!!

This is Alex's story. She is the Italian mafia princess of brooklyn. She feels like she has always been the odd ball in here family. But despite her feelings she has always been the obedient mafia daughter that is until she finally snaps in midst of chaos. We all no there is nothing worst than a RAT! Alex believes the drastic turn of events gives her a chance to protect her brother from the life that her father is trying to force him into. Well it back fires and she is now in the custody of her moms BFF, RUBY.  OMG as this book plays out we find out there is so much more to ruby than meets the eye. I honestly loved her character and her motherly instincts, lol.

Alex on the run with the motorcycle club was a very entertaining read. She held her own and it was obvious to all around the fouled mouth hot leather wearing Ryan was on her radar. Wait.... Ya they were on each other's  radar. Ryans character I wasn't head over heels for in the beginning but towards the end he mans up and realizes what's finally in front of his face. The woman he loves. It's sad that a  Tradagey  had to occur for this realization to happen, smh!

As this book plays out Alex finds her self again in a complex situation. Does she fight to get back the family she lost or does she fight to protect the new family she has gained? Mrs. Emery this booked rocked. I need book 2 ASAP!

Great job!

Cheers,

DEATH COMES IN ARMANI. SALVATION COMES IN LEATHER.”

“Love is never more tempting than when it’s forbidden.”

“I’m done, Cub,” he says without hesitation. “Let’s not make a big deal of it, but I love you, too.”

“all of the Armani, and bullets, and death. They made me one of them, a part of a family in a way I never had been before. Beyond gratitude and obligation, I chose them. I chose them because they love me, because they accept me, and maybe because they’re wild and rowdy. Maybe because they brought me to my mother. And I still choose them. They brought me to him, and for that, they’ll always have my loyalty. Because he was my salvation.”

Dark House by Karina Halle Book Review

With all the vampire, werewolf and faerie books out there, it's easy to become numb to all things supernatural. The antidote? Darkhouse introduces two real and unforgettable characters, Perry Palomino & Dex Foray, amateur ghost hunters who are "attractive, relatable and oddly heroic," "flawed but loveable," "slightly crazy" and just the most endearing pair to ever tackle the paranormal...just don't call them normal.

Darkhouse is a thrilling and sexy new take on concepts like Supernatural and The X-Files, bringing a breath of fresh air to a genre that has been inundated with the dead.

***Darkhouse and the Experiment in Terror series is a horror/romance for mature audiences only. Readers who are easily offended by harsh language should think twice about reading it.***

Karina is represented by Scott Waxman of the Waxman Leavell Literary Agency

The daughter of a Norwegian Viking and a Finnish Moomin, Karina Halle grew up in Vancouver, Canada with trolls and eternal darkness on the brain. This soon turned into a love of all things that go bump in the night and a rather sadistic appreciation for freaking people out. Like many of the flawed characters she writes, Karina never knew where to find herself and has dabbled in acting, make-up artistry, film production, screenwriting, photography, travel writing and music journalism. She eventually found herself in the pages of the very novels she wrote (if only she had looked there to begin with).

Karina holds a screenwriting degree from Vancouver Film School and a Bachelor of Journalism from TRU. Her travel writing, music reviews/interviews and photography have appeared in publications such as Consequence of Sound, Mxdwn and GoNomad Travel Guides. She currently lives on an island on the coast of British Columbia where she's preparing for the zombie apocalypse with her fiance and rescue pup.

I love Karina Halle books. Her experiment in terror series has been recommended to me by so many people. She was awesome enough to put the series on sale so I got one click happy. This was I'm sure a sign, lol that I should start this series.
I can honestly say out of all my paranormal reads I've never read one based on ghost hunters. So this alone had me excited... I love DIFFERENT!

This is the story of perry and dex. Perry is a young woman who honestly doesn't know who or what she is. Let me explain... Ever since she was a young child she has seen/ heard things no one else can. But as we all know talking to an imaginary friend as a teenager is uncool and kids can be harsh. Welcome to Perry's life, which in turn lead her to act out.... Oh teenagers and their drug use. Now she is a young woman who hates her job and is still seeing the unexplained.

One night while visiting her uncle, she wants to go inspect his light house. Equipped with her tiny camera she goes off into the night. Not expecting anyone else to be there (of course people just ignore the private property sign, geez lol) she gets spooked by camera man dex. Dex is your hot thirty something trying to find his nitch/make a name for himself. Amongst all the spookiness in this book there is an unspoken attraction between perry and dex. But as this book progresses we see they have a connection on a greater level as well.

This book started out slow for me but once it picked up let's just say wow! It really gave me some creepy/scary moments. It was refreshing to read a paranormal book not centered around the typical paranormal Story line. Good job Mrs. Halle.

Cheers,

Searching For Someday by Jennifer Probst Book Review

Kate has given up on love—at least for herself. She is both blessed and cursed with the ability to sense a romantic connection between two people—a gift that her family passed down for generations. When Kate launches her own matchmaking company, Kinnection, with her two best friends in a cozy New York town, she has to put aside her own romantic disasters to make her business a success.

But when a furious man stalks into her office and accuses her business of being a scam, Kate is given the ultimate challenge to prove herself. Slade puts himself in her hands and asks Kate to find him love. Enraged at his arrogance but stubbornly eager to prove herself, Kate agrees, dedicating herself to the journey of finding him love...only to find herself falling for him along the way.

Jennifer Probst wrote her first book at twelve years old. She bound it in a folder, read it to her classmates, and hasn’t stopped writing since. She took a short hiatus to get married, get pregnant, buy a house, get pregnant again, pursue a master’s in English Literature, and rescue two shelter dogs. Now she is writing again.

She is the NYT and USA Today bestselling author of The Marriage Bargain. She is published both erotic and sexy contemporary romance with Entangled, Decadent, Red Sage and TWRP. She has also written a children's book, Buffy and the Carrot, co-written with her twelve year old niece, along with a short story, "A Life Worth Living." Visit her website for more info!

Kate runs a matchmaking business with her two friends. She has a special gift and senses a connection between couples. Jane is a client of Kinnection's wanting to get out there and start dating again because she's been hurt in the past. Then you have Slade, Jane's brother who is overprotective and thinks the matchmaking business is a fraud. He joins trying to prove that you can find true love. When Slade and Kate meet, they have an instant connection but Kate tries to ignore it and is determine to find him a match. I love the banter between these two characters and I think it just builds the sexual tension. I love how you get to be in both these characters heads and get to know their feelings throughout their journey.

However, I thought this story was very slow and that the build up was just too much. It could have sped up a little and take a lot of unnecessary things out but still have a great story.

Suicide watch by Kelley York Book Review

18-year-old Vincent Hazelwood has spent his entire life being shuffled from one foster home to the next. His grades sucked. Making friends? Out of the question thanks to his nervous breakdowns and unpredictable moods. Still, Vince thought when Maggie Atkins took him in, he might’ve finally found a place to get his life—and his issues—in order.

But then Maggie keels over from a heart attack. Vince is homeless, alone, and the inheritance money isn't going to last long. A year ago, Vince watched a girl leap to her death off a bridge, and now he's starting to think she had the right idea.

Vince stumbles across a website forum geared toward people considering suicide. There, he meets others with the same debate regarding the pros and cons of death: Casper, battling cancer, would rather off herself than slowly waste away. And there’s quiet, withdrawn Adam, who suspects if he died, his mom wouldn't even notice.

As they gravitate toward each other, Vince searches for a reason to live while coping without Maggie's guidance, coming to terms with Casper's imminent death, and falling in love with a boy who doesn't plan on sticking around.

Once upon a time, Kelley York was born in central California. And it's there she she still resides with her wife, step-daughter, and way too many pets. Kelley is a sucker for dark fiction. She loves writing twisted characters, tragic happenings, and bittersweet endings that leave you wondering and crying. Character development takes center stage in her books because the bounds of a person's character and the workings of their mind are limitless.

I don't even know where to begin with this review. You guys know I love books that hit on tough topics and mrs. York addressed so many. I have so many highlights for this book. It was truly a memorable read through the eyes of a teenager in the foster care system transitioning into adult hood.

The main character Vincent, my heart utterly broke for him though out this book. He was a product of the foster care system and BROKEN.  The one person in the world that loved him was Maggie his latest foster mom. But Vincent's world is turned upside Down when Maggie dies of a heart attack on his graduation day from high school. Equipped with Maggie's savings in hand and no clue of what the world has to offer him, Vincent is ALONE and lost. As the book progresses and he goes through life trying to find his way, his mind wanders back to a girl he saw jump off a bridge/commit suicide. Was her life really that bad amongst the living? He feels his is and thus his tale of leaving this world behind begins.

When I hear of parents monitoring  their children's internet access I see why now especially after reading this book. Vincent's research of suicide leads him to a website for those like him that are considering the same route. That's how he befriends Casper (who is dieing of cancer and is honestly the glue holding this group/threesome of friends together) and adam( a musical genius/gay/neglected young man) .
The journey of these friends was an amazing read. Mrs. York gave her readers a tale of death, hope, love, forgiveness, friendships and cherishing life. I could talk forever about this book. READ IT you won't regret it!

Great job Mrs. York!!

Then how can you just...plan it out so calmly? Put an expiration date on your existence?"
"Because unlike you two," she hisses, scooping up her soda, "I. Am. Unfixable.”

“You have forever. You have a choice.”

. "I don't have a lot of time. But I have an awful lot of regrets. The most I can do is make sure I don't leave behind a mess I could've helped clean up. I want you and Adam to be taken care of.”

“It's not your fault your parents gave you up. It's not your fault the foster homes wouldn't help you.
It's not your fault Maggie and Casper died; there was nothing you could do.”

“We go to the bridge every week and miss you.
Once upon a time, I lost everything and I was so alone. The sadness, the hurt, it all seemed so infinite. When you're wandering alone in a storm, you can't see the end, or if there even is one, and how close it might be.
I'm still wandering, but maybe I don't feel so lost now.
I'll keep trying. I promise.
-Vinny”

About The Author:

Melissa Collins 2I’ve always been an avid reader. Majoring in English Literature was a no brainer. Becoming a teacher and instilling my love for reading into my students was also a no brainer. I’ve spent the last ten years teaching and I’ve loved (mostly) every minute of it. When I was home on maternity leave for my third son, I discovered a new genre that sparked my creativity. My passion for writing sprang from my love of reading and once I knew I had a story to tell, I couldn’t wait to get it out there. I only hope that my readers enjoy reading my story as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Not only was he best friends with her brother, but she’s the reason he became that weapon in the first place.

Hello~ (waves)

I didn't begin writing until after undergraduate college. There'd been storylines and characters in my head all my life, but it came to a boiling point one day and I HAD to get them out of me. So the computer was booted up and I FINALLY felt it click. Writing is what I needed to do. After that, I had to teach myself how to write. I can't blame my teachers for not teaching me all those years in school. It was my fault. I was one of the students that was wishing I was anywhere but at school! So after that day, it took me lots of work until I was able to put together something that resembled a novel. I'm hoping I got it right since someone must be reading this profile! And I hope you keep enjoying my future stories.

Keep track of me through facebook at Tijan's Books!
https://www.facebook.com/TijansBooks

For representation, please contact Jane Dystel from Dystel & Goderich Literary Management.

First, I want to say is this is going to be a very short and sweet and to the point review because this book has totally left me speechless and I just don't know how to describe it into words. Not too many books do that for me

Emma's life changes when she walks into her apartment and finds her roommate being raped and she makes a choice that will change her life forever. She seeks help from Carter who was her brother's best friend because she knew he will help protect her. If you're looking for a lovey dovey romance this book isn't for you. Sure, Carter is a hot, sexy and down right lickable and will be some steamy parts but that's not what this is about. You have two broken people who have had a lot of crap handed to them.

So, with that being said, I fell in love with this book and I will have a book hangover for awhile. So much emotion between the characters, it felt like you were there right along with them. I was drawn into the story from beginning to end. It will keep you guessing and you will be floored with the events take place. There's no cliffhanger and could be left alone as it is, but could also be left open to possibly a series, in which that case heck yeah!

Cheers,
  Holly

Her is the re-telling of Him but from Will's POV. If you haven't read my review for Him, it was a 5 star read that I LOVED!!!!!!!

It's always fun to see things from the others POV, especially when their is so much miscommunication between the two. Will's story is a bit different in style since we all know the male mind is WAY different than females! He is one horny guy lol.

In Her we get to see their back story also from Will's POV and it makes me love him that much more! BUT for those of you who read Him and are on the fence about Her, we get more of the story! We learn what happens after they reunite and Will goes back to Colorado with her.

If you haven't read either, I would recommend reading Him first. Although I loved Her, Him is still my fav of the two. Carey definitely does not disappoint with her writing, I just like the feelings I got when reading Her the first time. I love the anticipation and butterflies you get when you are reading a book for the first time and don't know what's going to happen next.
